Yes, it could be. Especially when you have someone that wants to fulfill some kind of prophecy and has been described by their preacher father as a "biblical king" who's meant to bring about that prophecy. And, no. I'm not talking about Paul.

Folks aren't familiar with the fact that Cruz thinks he is chosen. They don't understand it guides his politics.

The funny part is, Cruz is the single most un-American, anti-freedom loving candidate running so far. Mind boggling.

And the worst part: He signed up for Obamacare.

In all seriousness, I believe Cruz is the biggest threat to personal liberty in this race so far.

Ted Cruz is the least constitutional GOP candidate. It is right there in black and white. You are right. Honestly, Cruz suffers from a mental disorder.

    The GOP is a mess.

You can leave this country anytime you want.

Go for it. Find a better place to live.

Somalia is beautiful this time of year.

Somalia may just have to solve their own problems without me for now, my own government is currently the greater threat to Liberty and deserves my full attention.

I'm starting to suspect the usual suspects up thread may have graduated from the Harry Reid school of intellectual honesty.

I don't care if politicians are religious. What I do care about is organized religion's influence on our government.

Everyone's beliefs drive their values, goals, lives. It's just naive to think people should check their beliefs at their front door before they head out into the world. INGO would sure be boring if MRJARRELL and level.eleven did that.

Yes, some religious candidates may believe god is guiding them. Or that they're participating in their prophecy. So what? Yes, some organized religions are large enough that they can wield some influence on government. Why is that any more unacceptable than any other .org with a cause influencing government? Take a look at the Rolling Stones thread. Look at the ridiculous influence feminists have on government. How is religious influence any worse than that?

People have a right to think and believe. People with similar beliefs tend to band together and form organizations. Those organizations tend to have goals, and they pursue them. It is their right to do. It is your right not to like it. But it's not your right to prevent it.

If you don't like what xyz group is pursuing, form your own .org and advocate against it.

Anyone catch him on the Today Show (NBC) this morning? He was getting a little lippy with the girl interviewing him. I kinda liked it.

That lippiness is more of a liability. He may not understand how much he needs the press not to hate him. They don't need to like him, but if he's lippy in every interview, they're going to keep him perpetually lippy so that that's all people see. An angry lippy guy running for president. If he can figure out how to answer stupid questions with charm and wit (kinda like Reagan did) he'll do well.

^^^^What Jamil is saying in the last couple of posts ^^^^^

The key is for Rand to make his point with a smile - and a minimum of 'tude.

Totally agree with the post above that as well.

When your beliefs could precipitate a world wide conflagration, all in the name of your religious beliefs, you will fall under scrutiny and should rightfully be denied access to the weapons of war. We didn't want Ahmadinejad having access to nuclear weapons, because he held the same types of beliefs as Cruz. I don't want Cruz having access to nukes for the same reason.

I disagree Jamil (and that is rare with you brother!) We need a candidate that will call out the press like that...I saw it this am and thought he did a good job of knocking her "I am really a Democrat posing as a journalist" smug right off her face...I saw him do it once also with the New York Hooker scandal politician who had a show on CNN once....

As a side note my cousin was working security at the Galt House and spent all day with Rand's security team, as well as Rand and his family...He said he and his family were gracious, humble, and genuinely good folks....Rand has enough Libertarian in him to get my vote and enough establishment Republican to be electable....I like how he goes to places and speaks to audiences who are not going to be friendly to himself or his party and engages them in conversation but what I like most is how he will take on the Democrat machine known as "the media".....

My wife met him a couple of years ago at a work function and he gave her a copy of his book and autographed for her....She said the same thing my cousin said...Just a really smart, classy guy....

I think the Paul family are good people. I am glad to see he is running.......I have been a pretty die hard Ron Paul fan. I agree with a lot of his thinking and deeply respect him for standing by what he thinks is right. For better or worse....Ron Paul said what he thought. If he tells you the water isnt wet.......you best go feel it. The guy lives what he preaches......

I always thought Ron Paul would have been kind of like Ronnie was......I envisioned a world where 40,000,000 didn't/couldn't rely on the government to feed and house them. Sometimes tough love is good love.

I hope Rand is the one that can stop you know who........

That was my take on this morning's interview. She was obviously trying to make him look bad, and he clearly wasn't having it. I'd much rather have someone with a set who will look someone in the eye and say "you're wrong, and here's why" than someone who will sugar coat everything.

I haven't really heard him speak too much in the past, but from this morning's interview he seemed like a genuinely intelligent individual, and not just someone who is a good speaker.

Rand Paul's campaign staff has issued a clarification about his statement "I see an America where criminal justice is applied equally and any law that disproportionately incarcerates people of color is repealed."

Rand Paul campaign: He wasn't talking about murder | WashingtonExaminer.com

I'm glad to see that he has done this as his prepared statement and making excuses to justify it are deeply irresponsible.
