Shooting on Purdue Campus

Another shooting in a "gun-free zone". Unclear at this point if anyone was hurt or killed. Hopefully the legislative process will allow students with a LTCH to carry on campuses soon. If you haven't already read this thread, please do. The mere presence of good guys with guns could have been enough of a deterrent for this to have happened.

Shot three times, all eyewitnesses saying deceased.

Two names released of who the TA could have been, but not posting it because nothing is confirmed.

Tippecanoe Sheriff's Department knew nothing.

I asked about it and the following exchange transpired:

"What happened at Purdue?"

"There was a police action shooting."

"Who did the police shoot?"

"The police don't shoot people, citizens shoot people!!!"

"Umm, ok, I see, just asking, I'll go upstairs now." Apparently tempers on edge. Turned on my heel and had my conferences and then left.

Senior paralegal just walked in, back from class at Purdue. TA was shot in EE building. She was just glad to be out of West Lafayette, lots of cops with guns.

From my office window, I see helicopter hovering over West Lafayette hill across river.

This just came through on our base e-mail:

"Police have taken one male into custody today following reports that at least one person was shot on the campus of Purdue University, in West Lafayette, Ind. WLFI-TV reports that one person was shot in the incident around noon in the Electrical Engineering Building. The condition of the reported victim was not immediately clear. While a witness reported that one person had been transported to a local hospital for medical treatment Purdue has not confirmed there were any shooting injuries.

The initial campus-wide lockdown was partially lifted after about two hours, but the shelter-in-place was still in effect for the electrical engineering building where officers conducted a room-by-room search."

Listening to the ISP press conference and as of now, shooter walked in, shot one person and left. Was apprehended shortly after that.
