OK Guys & Gals, some "news" as it were...
My LGS where I bought the AR (that went down with the boat)
Can now get larger quantities of 5.56 ammo @ $.50 per round.
He is a small shop, and presumably can sell it for fitty-cent.
SO, if a tiny, newer LGS can get a deal like that, then MAYBE
it is loosening up now! I will start checking around more. Aszerigan
will be receiving a PM from me soon... ;-)

The owner's son works at the local Rural King, and I saw him
in there. He said his Dad can get quantity and sell it for $.50/rd.
Sounds like a great deal NOW, after F-stein's scare is over
(for the time being). If we check around with some bigger
players, we might be able to do better.

I am looking for $350 to $400 a 1,000. I think it will be back to that by the end of summer.

+1 for this, I'm Just Sayin' the fitty-cent is a great sign!
That same LGS told me he could sell me quantity for .40/rd
and that was just like maybe a few thousand. I would hope
OUR kind of volume would get us under fitty-cent NOW thru
the same bunch of folks I talked to here. It could be by summer!

Just an update, we are still looking for the Best Deal ;)

$.50 a round is still a but salty. I'll be interested when it's closer to $.30 to $.35 a round.

I'm with you in thought, but I would still take $.50. Why? Well, all it's going to take is another mass-shooting idiot and we'll be back up to $1.00 a round. That punk kid who shot up a school has cost American guns owners a fortune...

    I will have to disagree.

$.35 is the norm. I will not pay more than the norm for ammo. When you start paying more than the norm for something, then that becomes the norm.

Are you happy when gas gets down to $3.50? Remember when it was $3.00 and you were happy when it would get down to $2.50? What about when it would get down to $2? The process of "raise it 2 and decrease it 1" only creates a sense of complacency for when the price is higher than it should be, but lower than it was.

Be patient and don't buy until the price is what it should be.

You're correct, but only if a person already has ammo. I don't want to be without ammo. I just recently bought my first 5.56 rifle.

Sad to say, I remember when gas was $0.27/Gallon.

I think I'd be willing to pay the $0.50/round if I truly needed it but if I only want to keep up my inventory then a round cost of $0.35-$0.40 would be the goal. Heck, the previous order I placed was for $0.30/round - but that was last year & on sale.

Yes, it does suck for those who are just now getting into the caliber.

I remember when it was crazy at $1 per gallon, and normally $.85 or so.

True, if I absolutely needed ammo, $.50 is better than nothing, but if I am just buying to recoup my inventory I would be more inclined at $.30-$.35 per round.

Just found this thread that looks to have started back in Dec. I am interested in 1-3K; under $0.40. Thanks undeRGRound for trying to get this done!

    You're WELCOME! :welcome:

    and now the NEWS:
I PM'ed Andrew (Aszerigan) who is our resident Sponsor for the GP. (He's a gun dealer)
He said he is in the same boat as my LGS, meaning he can get us a $.50/rd Price,
and he knows we all want better, so for now, it's no-go. I thnked him and asked to be
kept updated. The good news is that it seems to be still dropping. I got $.40/rd
"by the box" at another LGS, but they cannot get any volume as of yet. 10 box limit,
which was rather sweeet for me at the LGS! It WAS Brass, BTW. :rockwoot:

When, not if, you get this deal made, I volunteer to make myself and my plane available for distribution. I live in Columbus. Thanks again!:yesway:

    Update

my #1 LGS (TopGuns in Terre Haute) has a big amount of 5.56
in 62 grain M855 green tip Armor Piercing Ammo. Retail is about
$.45 per round before tax. I have a good bit of this. It is Lake City!
