So many are poor by choice.
Upbringing does have a lot to do with it but there are folks that ride the gravy train.
People are always looking at Blame. If one chooses to stay in a given lifestyle who then is to blame.
There are programs available for so many avenues of escape. They are only a start but nothing good will come with out some effort.

A great man once had a dream that we would come to judge our fellow man by the content of their character. Unfortunately, the character of many is on display daily and has been found to be wanting.

That is the sad part of this whole deal.

The dreams this man had have been rode into the ground.

So for people that aren't "upstanding citizens" it's ok that they were shot? We don't know ANYTHING about the victims, and it appears you are assigning blame on everybody BUT the shooters. You're not saying the victims deserved it, but you are stopping just of.

Once again you are putting words in my mouth and assuming. If I have something to say I will say it. Others have already pointed out that if you do bad thing and hang out with bad people there is a better chance of bad things...

Now let's see how you try to spin this...

Wonder how long it will be before you get this thread shut down like you got the Ferguson thread shut down...

This is very true. But what many here think of as "poor" really are not, at least by global standards. Where else in the world do you see the "poor" with a smart phone, cable tv, and at least one car? I know a few people that choose to keep their income below a certain level so they can ride the gravy train. I also know a few that don't have a choice and have to ride the gravy train, to eat.

The "train" was never intended to be a mode of transportation. It was meant to be a "net". Sadly it has become the former for many.

You're right, I am assuming. Perhaps you honestly thought the two adults and three children who were injured, were actually upstanding citizens. And perhaps when you used the pronoun "we" you were referring collectively to INGO members.
And no way you're pinning the closing of the Ferguson thread on me.

    Of course, you are correct.
I'm trying to be more careful about who I'm around.

I'm a few days late, but: "high-powered assault rifle"?

I think the spell checker that journalists use consider that one word.
They probably envision it as firing 500 rounds per minute into a one inch circle at a thousand yards with enough power to penetrate an engine block.
(Just take everything you've ever heard about any firearm and lump it all together.)

But that requires a shoulder thing that goes up.

A couple things caught my eye with this latest story. The area (59th and Georgetown), not a point on the map you'd expect this type of evil, but the guy hiding in cars near Saint V's wasn't either. Bust in an apartment and shoot children? There's a special place in hell for this scum.

Unfortunately, some people, when they feel they have been wronged or disrespected, will stop at nothing to get even.
