Didn't get the pic, but i just seen the biggest woodpecker i ever saw! I thought it was a baby crane at first land in the sassafras tree in backyard. It was damn near as big as a cat. It had the red head, big white ring below that and rest of body was black. Was getting up to get phone to take a pic and it flew off. Man i hope it comes back!!

They do get your attention. We see them frequently.
When the kids were little, we had one that would pound on a metal NO TRESSPASSING sign. Incredibly loud. We laughed pretty hard every time.

I had no idea they got that huge. All the years i lived in the country setting, i have never seen 1 bigger than 8" atleast.

Thats too bad. I had some fun over there when I was younger.
We are due East of Ludington by about 30 miles. We make the trip over there a couple times a year. Nice shops, eats, ice cream, beach.

Found this little guy on our nightly walk this evening. He was all dried out and crawling out of a bean field. I deposited him down the road in the swamp.



Sunset wasn't bad, either. It was unseasonably hot today, but it cooled off nicely this evening. Looks like they've started cutting the corn.

No, it's tonight. Starting around 10 and is to be fullest crescent lunar event at 10:44. Got the info from WLFI.
