    Didn't get the pic, but i just seen the biggest woodpecker i ever saw! I thought it was a baby crane at first land in the sassafras tree in backyard. It was damn near as big as a cat. It had the red head, big white ring below that and rest of body was black. Was getting up to get phone to take a pic and it flew off. Man i hope it comes back!!

    They do get your attention. We see them frequently.
    When the kids were little, we had one that would pound on a metal NO TRESSPASSING sign. Incredibly loud. We laughed pretty hard every time.

    I had no idea they got that huge. All the years i lived in the country setting, i have never seen 1 bigger than 8" atleast.

    There's much more to do in the northwest. This was our first trip along the east coast and probably the last.
    Thats too bad. I had some fun over there when I was younger.
    We are due East of Ludington by about 30 miles. We make the trip over there a couple times a year. Nice shops, eats, ice cream, beach.

    We drove up to Union Pier both Saturday and Sunday.

    Couldn't beat the weather and hardly anybody was there...
