Has anyone called the capital police to ask about the legality on the sidewalk issue and to let them know ?

Maybe I can rent an AK for the day. :):

i will dress nice if it isnt so cold

I know that weather is an issue around here, especially in February. But bringing our dress to a higher standard is very helpful for our cause. We NEED to have an air of professionalism. That means that we must look, act, and sound professional.

Business casual would be nice, but I don't feel that it is absolutely needed. Stick to subdued clothing that still looks good. Avoid sports apparel, hunting and tac gear, but mostly shy away from possibly compromising messages printed on your clothing.

A nice NRA sweatshirt, or the professional logo of a respected gun company would work. But leave the skull shirt with the Sic Semper Tyranis graphic in the closet. In fact I would be wary of having the image or logo of any company that you didn't know stood with us.

This isn't the place for moral patches or to go gun gucci, this isn't for fun, we are here to be seen by the public, so that Sally Soccer Mom can identify with those nice clean cut gun owners. We do not want to be viewed as Gun Nuts.

I will say that again, we do not want to be viewed as gun nuts.

when you speak, keep to either general pleasantries or to the subject at hand. don't use terms like DemoCraps, Demoncrats, Libtard, etc. Shy away from calling them socialists. Those terms turn people off, we want to make our selves available to every one. We are here to stand together to support our legislatures and to promote Freedom. Keep your message positive.

We are not drawing a line in the sand. We are on the soapbox, next is the ballot box, and we will not mention the last box.

We DO have friends in the legislator, and if we want their full support we need to make ourselves look like supporters, not an angry mob, not like crazed GunNuts, not like tacticool basement dwellers, not like truthers, not like fuds, not like halfcocked wanna be cowboys.

Make your signs as professional looking as possible, make yourself look as professional as possible. I covered up my tattoos and left my leather jacket at home, you can put a plain sweater on under your jacket and leave the mossy oak coat at home.

What are my options for getting a professional (quality) looking sign printed in time for this march? I would like something that could stand up to moisture (rain or snow) and a stiff breeze so I imagine card/poster board is out. Perhaps that plastic cardboard looking stuff? I will follow up on my own locally but I figured there might be one or two on INGO with suggestions. I would like to support a pro-2A business if that is possible. I'm not sure on poster size ... I will have to transport the thing to Indy in a car but I also don't want an 8.5"x11" sign either.

call your local print shops and see what they can do for you. Support local businesses.

    EXCELLENT IDEA!

I would suggest contacting every gun club, shooting club, hunting club, and conservation club in the state! The more the better!

However, I would suggest not openly carrying the firearms lest you run into an overzealous law enforcement officer or a liberal do-gooder bent on detracting from your message.

I can't be there myself, but thank you for speaking up for all licensed, legal gun owners everywhere!

    What about Washington!

Why stop at Indy......it seems to me that several million of us should descend on D.C. for a rally to stand up for the Constitution and our freedom!

If gays, lesbians, illegal aliens, and other groups can do it, why not gunowners?

We didn't have any problems with LEO's on saturday and I doubt open carry will be an issue on the 8th.

That being said, if you do plan to OC keep in mind that the eyes of the state are upon you, and the credibility of our cause rests with you. Wear a quality holster with good retention, carry a gun you are familiar with, do not take it out to show it off, leave it where it is.

We cannot afford a single negligent discharge.

Keep the 4 rules upon your mind at all times. If you have a rifle slung, do not let the muzzle sweet the crowd. barrel and chamber flags are nice, but use the 4 rules as our first line of defense

Because there are more of them around that region than a civil gun owner.

I don't do Facebook, is there a rally point or "just look for the crowd"?

OP has been updated with further details.

    :yesway:

Im just curious about this part ...

You do not need an Indiana LTCH to carry a long gun, however, it has been brought up that we may be in the vicinity of a Gun Free Zone. Knowing this, if you decide to carry a long gun, and do not possess an Indiana LTCH, you do so at your own risk.

Not sure what a LTCH has to do with carrying a long gun.:dunno:
If you carry a long gun, or a pistol, in a "gun free zone" you will get in trouble no matter if you have a LTCH or not.
