    Where's the bacon?
    I just read the actual code, and what is up with some of those exemptions? An electric utility? A "private secure facility?"

    Those would either be examples of "anything the libbies can find some excuse to generate emotion for, examples of who made the biggest campaign contributions, or both.

    They certainly have no basis in reality or logic.

    Blessings,
    Bill

    I'm glad to see that Mitch saw what the people wanted and signed the bill. It would have been easy for him to have decided to go with the company that have a lot of money for his next campaign.

    :yesway:Thanks to everybody who has done the real work getting this passed. :yesway: I'm also a little surprised that Mitch actually signed the bill, and didn't just let it pass the waiting period. With the signing of this and 1068, his stock has gone up a couple notches in my book.
    Our company president, the Chicago b*&^h head of H.R., and a few other big shots received e-mails about updating company policy. :dunno:

    It's great to see all this come together, those of us with the same opinion of the bill owe a lot of thanks to those who made it happen, great and small.

    yes, unfortunately it did. Enrolled Act, House Bill 1065

    IC 34-28-7-2(b)(5) in or on property belonging to an approved postsecondary educational institution (as defined in IC 21-7-13-6(b));

    The next law to work on is guns @ state funded universities.
    Thanks! That's too bad. Does that actually make it illegal now to have a gun in your car on a campus or just doesn't protect you from getting fired? I know it is always illegal to have a gun on a K-12 school (unless you are dropping off/picking up), but before this IIRC the state was silent on colleges.

    It's not illegal. It's never been illegal. It's just against many employer's policy. So, you're not protected from getting fired/expelled if you work/study at a university.

    Unless I'm missing something . . .

    I hope you're not referring to the military... ya know, the ones who take away firearms on post and lock them in an armory.

    Or have they started allowing soldiers to carry when off-duty?

    Im a government security contractor now, actually getting paid what my skills are worth. already did my time in the service.

    pretty sad that our Warriors dont get paid squat. but they protect our freedoms everyday and should make more than the president if you ask me! they are the ones putting their butts on the line for bread crumbs. sure they dont do it for the money, maybe some do for college, but we need to hook them up with better pay!! that should be a top priority in congress. also making sure they dont get :poop: after they get home from the military like too many of them do. the VA is a JOKE!!

    Do you guys think it wise to send HR an email about this? I was going to initially but a coworker thinks I would be painting a target on myself if and when they are unhappy about it. It's in their best interest to know about it, but maybe I should just keep quiet. I work for a huge global company. Thoughts?

    I wouldn't worry about it, until the need arose. No need to draw undue attention to yourself in that regard.

    As for the bill passing, I'm thrilled. This is one of the first times I feel my voice was actually heard, along with everyone else who helped support this bill and make it clear it is what Hoosiers want.

    Great job to all who wrote the Governor's office and/or spoke to fellow Hoosiers about it!

    I just read the actual code, and what is up with some of those exemptions? An electric utility? A "private secure facility?"

    A "Private Secure Facility" is a particular treatment facility licensed by the Indiana Department of Child Services. By definition, children or adolescents placed into such facilities must be dangerous to themselves or others.

    Language about "a child caring institution" is similarly a licensing category of the Indiana Department of Child Services for non-secure institutional care of abused, neglected, and emotionally disturbed children.

    I support this language of the bill. An emotionally disturbed adolescent breaking into an employee's car containing a gun at such a facility could have disatrous consequences for other clients, employees, or the public. It's not just an academic issue. It happens.

    Create a throwaway account (yahoo, hotmail,etc) then bounce it off a couple of overseas proxies from a public computer. Make it difficult to trace if they take offense. I did it simply because the b&%$h is vehemently anti-gun, and probably paranoid schizophrenic to boot. Before she started, somebody got fired, their supervisor helped them pick up their tools and other personal items then walked them to the door. Nowadays, the local constabulary is called to escort the firee off company property. No doubt they know my feelings about it anyway, as I wear a gun related shirt or hat at least once a week.

    Also, thanks to the person who sent the rep!

    (A) a public utility (as defined in IC 8-1-2-1) that generates and transmits electric power; or
    (B) a department of public utilities created under IC 8-1-11.1;

    This really sucks! Even though my dept isn't a utility it is a dept of the local minicipal utilities govt. Which as I take it means I can't carry to and from.
