I agree with you but I think a Whitmer-like scenario is more than possible here. Just takes a few undercovers to push an unstable guy over the edge by providing encouragement and maybe a little Intel on the best time and place to set up his shot. We have seen what the .gov is willing to do. Everything is suspect at this point.

The real questions are, who were the shooter's FBI and CIA handlers? (I used to consider that somewhat of a tongue in cheek joke. After Michigan and whitmer, not so much.)

Create the conditions for inadequate security. Push a patsy over the edge, ensuring he is armed and at least nomenally trained. Hope for the best.

Quite honestly, for most popular AR calibers, inside 200 yards is point blank range with less than a inch and a half rise to worry about with a 200 yard zero.
