Ok. Lower is done. I tapped the threads for the grip screw and it went on much, much easier.

I used a PSA enhanched LPK with Magpul MOE grip and swapped out the polished mil-spec trigger for a Geissele SD-E. Stock is a fixed Magpul MOE rifle length.

Now to start saving for parts for the upper.

Looks good. Does the PSA enhanced lpk come with an ambi safety selector? And I think you're rear takedown pin in backwards

The rear takedown pin does look backwards in a couple of pics but if that's true then it would be hard to push it out because the detent on the other side would prevent you from doing so. Even if you did force it out the detent spring would push the detent forward and you wouldn't be able to push the pin back through. Maybe it's an optical illusion.

Or he could just be mess'n with our heads. :dunno:

Yes and yes. Ambi safety selector is included.

And takedown pin is inserted backwards. That's one big drawback of working on a vice block that's not bolted down. I got in a hurry and spun it around when I test fit the stock. Forgot which side i was working on and put the takedown pin in backwards. I realized as soon as i tried to test fit on an existing upper. An easy fix after removing the stock.

Only my second build, so I'll be happy if that's my only screw up.

That's a nice clean build VUPD. Has what you need and everything you don't. If you handload I bet it would shoot tiny groups too. Should be a walk in the park hitting man size steel at 500yds with that.

I have a PSA 8.5in upper, CMMG lower kit, pistol buffer on the way & a CMMG 22lr conversion on the way. I still want to pick up a 223 bolt at some point.
I may do a SBR with it later and that's why I went with the 8.5 upper.

16097 checking in. Am also planning an SPR build, but think that VUPD pretty much locked things up with a great build. I am thinking of a 16" bbl to match load data I already have for other 16" AR's that I have to keep my scope dope a little more straight forward.

Really looking forward to additional build pics!

I put it together tonight, the 22lr conversion should be here this week sometime.

What Shop has a AR wrench "cheap"? I need to tighten the buffer tube nut and pull the flash hider.

I can loan you one if you'd like it. I might be up in the indy area this weekend. Flash hider is usually just a standard 3/4 wrench.
