sat in my tree from 3-5 and got completely drenched. The rain was coming down harder, so I just packed it up and headed home. I felt that the rain was too heavy that the deer wouldn't be moving.

$19 treestand umbrella was worth it's weight in gold tonight.

3 does, 1 spike, no bucks.

I will be heading out sometime tomorrow afternoon and hopefully filling another tag.

I'm still new to all of this, but is there any estimate for the beginning of rut? I'm trying to hold off on a buck till then...

Well I sat tonight from 4-7pm, got drenched and did not see anything. Saw 3 does couple night ago but did not have the oppurtunity for a good shot. As far as rut is concerned I think were starting rut here shortly. I have always been told that the full moon at the end of October is roughly the start of rut. That being said I have numerous rubs where I hunt an several scrapes popped up this week so get ready.

It's beautiful today! I'm eating on hot bowl of chili, then I'll be out in the stand around 4. Hopefully today will be a better. Definitely going to be dryer.

Well that was a waste of a day. Sat in my tree for a couple hours, saw a few squirrels, and then some of the people who live on the land I have permission to hunt on came strolling through the woods. Pretty sure I gave one of them a heart attack. but no hard feelings. Guess we'll have to work on communication better so that doesn't happen again. :D

Bro in law shot a doe this morning. I went out this evening and seen 1 doe but she wasn't going to give me a chance to take the shot. The wind was almost brutal. Lots of swaying sitting in the tree this evening.

Been Sitting in a tree since 6:30 in Arcadia. Haven't seen anything as of yet. A bit chilly today and a few decent wind gust. Now I gotta pee again, dang it!

Stuck my first deer of the year last night at 1855. Six pointer walked right under my stand at around 1845 and went down a hill to the north of my stand. 5 minutes later two does came up the same hill. I drew back on the lead doe and right before she stepped into my lane, the six pointer came busting over the hill and pushed her. He was hot on her and she did a huge circle and came back to the same spot 5 minutes later. I looked over and saw the buck heading her way again but fortunately she stepped into my lane just in time. 30 yard double lung shot. If anyone is not happy with their current broadheads, I highly recommend the G5 T3s. I have killed two since switching to these broadheads last year and I am extremely impressed. She was pumping heavy blood on both sides of her body as she ran. Great entry great exit. Now that I have some in the freezer it's time to wait on the big boy. Good luck to all.
