I thought she was born in Kenya, just like his biological father? But now I see she was born at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. However she was only 18 when she had Obama... and I know the laws about children of American parents born abroad was complicated prior to February 2001when they simplified it some, and the biggest thing in question is the fact that blood relatives of his claim to have been at his birth in Kenya.

Now it appears if your child is born abroad, (even if at a u.s. military base or embassy), you have to apply to have them naturalized as a u.s. citizen... not sure if it was similar before that or not.

Would you have a link to that new ruling? (I hope) Or do you know where I could look for it? I haven't heard to that one.

The case still in play at SCOTUS (see Docket for 08A469) is not whether or not Obama was born in the US, or whether he is a US Citizen now, or was a US Citizen at birth. The given case does not challenge any of these facts.

What the case "does" challenge is his eligibility to serve as POTUS, as he is (allegedly) not a "natural born citizen" (a condition specified in Article II of the US Constitution, but heretofore never defined specifically in any US Court of Law). This is because Obama was born having "dual citizenship" - a condition undisputed, and in fact, documented by the Obama camp - Fight the Smears: The Truth About Barack’s Birth Certificate (scroll down to the Fact Check.org quote - "FactCheck.org Clarifies Barack's Citizenship") - having citizenship of both the US (having been born here) and UK (through his father). The case in play maintains that one can only be considered a "natural born citizen" if "both" parents are US citizens (either by parent's birth or parents having been "naturalized" prior to the child's birth).

The case was referred to the Court by Justice Scalia, and is on the schedule for conference on Friday, December 12th, 2008. It's disposition (whether to move ahead with hearing or dismiss) will assumedly be determined at that point.

Other lawsuits in other venues are in play, but this is the one I've been following.

For more on this particular case, click Natural Born Citizen.

    Awesome, one last hope :)

    Don't get your hopes up...

This issue is going nowhere. Nixon was pardoned. Gore won the popular vote but lost the election - that went to the supreme court as well Clinton was impeached - and so what? There is no Santa Clause. This is politics - there may be a lot of noise and "concerned" people - but on January 20th we'll have a new president, and he's the same one talking on TV now. Get used to it.

The Supreme Court declined to review at least one of the cases.

    The Associated Press

    Mon, Dec 8, 2008 (8:33 a.m.)

The Supreme Court has turned down an emergency appeal from a New Jersey man who says President-elect Barack Obama is ineligible to be president because he was a British subject at birth.

The court did not comment on its order Monday rejecting the call by Leo Donofrio of East Brunswick, N.J., to intervene in the presidential election.

Donofrio says that since Obama had dual nationality at birth _ his mother was American and his Kenyan father at the time was a British subject _ he cannot possibly be a "natural born citizen," one of the requirements the Constitution lists for eligibility to be president.

Donofrio also contends that two other candidates, Republican John McCain and Socialist Workers candidate Roger Calero, also are not natural-born citizens and thus ineligible to be president.

At least one other appeal over Obama's citizenship remains at the court. Philip J. Berg of Lafayette Hill, Pa., argues that Obama was born in Kenya, not Hawaii as Obama says and the Hawaii secretary of state has confirmed.

Berg says Obama also may be a citizen of Indonesia, where he lived as a boy. Federal courts in Pennsylvania have dismissed Berg's lawsuit. Federal courts in Ohio and Washington state have rejected similar lawsuits.

Allegations raised on the Internet say the birth certificate, showing that Obama was born in Hawaii on Aug. 4, 1961, is a fake.

But state officials in Hawaii say they checked health department records and have determined there's no doubt Obama was born in Hawaii.

The nonpartisan Web site Factcheck.org examined the original document and said it does have a raised seal and the usual evidence of a genuine document.

In addition, Factcheck.org reproduced an announcement of Obama's birth, including his parents' address in Honolulu, that was published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961.

HOPE IS LOST LAST and at this stage of the process any little bit help. Don't be mean spirited StevenInIndiana and rip that hope from those that still believe. Sure the 'supremies' may not take this case and if so then that is that. But if they do and they find not in favor of BO just think of what comes next?

I would say the LA Riots would be looked as a small thing. But then we would be left with Biden. I'm not sure who is the worse eveil BO or Biden. In the end I think I would rather have Biden only for selfish reasons.

I fear that with BO in office and the recent report that within the next 4 years a NUKE will go off in the USA thanks to terrorist that now Chicago is near the top of the list. Living in NW Indiana that is just too close for comfort.

At least Biden would be legal. And he is such a baffoon that even his own party wouldn't take him too seriously.

And as for riots, (if that did happen) we would recover from something like that easier than having our country run by someone who doesn't belong. You worry about riots? Shouldn't we all worry about what the terrorist nations would do to our country if they knew that we didn't have a REAL (legitimate) leader? (If that were the case.)

I worry about riots because that may be in the near-future depending on how this plays out and working in downtown Chicago it is a big concern for me since I can't carry while in Chicago! So forgive me if I'm being selfish but I am concerned about my safety. So much that I did not work on Firday (12-5) just in case and now it seems I will also skip this coming Friday as well.

In terms of long term yes we are facing some big problems there. I do personally feel that BO has weaken our image around the world and those who hate us are going to try and push the US because even if we are not weak we look weak with BO at the top.

    Where's the bacon?
Curious... if a nuke was detonated in Chicago... of course the effect would depend on the kilotonnage, but how big would it have to be to turn Indy into a radioactive wasteland?

I can understand (to a point) your fear of riots living in Chicago and I wish you the best. That's not really being selfish, it's self preservation.
Unfortunately, we have many of the Chicago "rejects" (those who lost their housing when Chicago tore down the projects there - the criminal element) where I work, so - to a lesser degree - we would have to face what you would, but on a much smaller scale.

If Obama would just "man up" and show his real (legitimate) birth certificate, we wouldn't even have to worry about any of this. But, we won't see that either.
Makes one wonder "what is he hiding"? He's bringing all this on himself.

Hooiser8 is correct the fallout is the bigger issue.

    See here:
    Nuclear Survival by States

Chicago would still be standing after a nuke (the type a terriorst group can put together typically called dirty bomb). Now if we are talking about China well that is a different story say "good bye sweat home chicago".

Here is a sample fall out pattern based on winds.

Indy is still in the RED zone. So you will have to be prepared.
It's not as hard and scary as it sounds if you are indeed prepared.

WHAT TO DO IF A NUCLEAR DISASTER IS IMMINENT!

About the hardest thing is getting a good 'shelther' in place for the radiation.
I advise you to get the nukepills now it's a small investment and about the only thing that requires some time to get as wastre, food you can get locally.
