just got a letter last week that my premium went up 240%:xmad::xmad::xmad:

they haven't said what my deductible will do!!!:xmad::xmad::xmad:

They said it's only fair the rich help the poor out.
They just failed to mention that the rich are everyone above poverty level.

    My sympathies to you.

I remember back before healthcare became affordable. That was when I could afford to go to the doctor. Now I'm sick, and the insurance won't kick in until I hit my $8000 out of pocket costs for the year. If it gets bad enough, I would have to quit my job before I can afford to go to the doctor. What a great system.

We just had to go to a plan with a 13k deductible. I guess that's an upgrade in obama speak.

The Dems are all happy though. Maybe 'cause all these higher premiums are paying for their free coverage...

Everyone pays for adult "children's" coverage to 26.
    Everyone pays for pregnancy coverage.
    Everyone pays for birth control.

    Happy now???

I just got out of a union meeting where they're telling everyone to make sure when the elections come, to vote for those saintly Dems trying to repeal the Cadillac tax and not those evil Repubs.

Did they make is clear that it was the "saintly Dems" who put the Cadillac health plan tax in place?

    Of course not.
And since the meeting was supposed to be on the new contract coming up for a vote, I didn't feel like telling them I want my union to be there because of the company, and I have no need of the union in politics.

Did they tell you the only reason it isn't perfect is because of all those amendments the Republicans forced into the bill?

I don't care what their political views are. I'm there to earn a living.
And I have 24 years. Pensions before 30 years are meager.

Easy enough to understand. You can't build a compost pile without shoveling some sh*t. Besides, it isn't like giving that income to a lefty is going to adversely affect the leftist agenda.

My out of pocket premium has gone up from $245 to $294 / month. That is a 20% increase. Last night chatting with friends theirs went up 34%.

While I despise the ACA the fact is premiums would be going up with or without the ACA!!! Medical care prices are left unchecked, uncontrolled, and unknown.

Eventually, we are going to need to address the real problem with healthcare costs, those who generate them and NOT those who pay them. Please note that I am NOT suggesting government controls, only that some system needs to be put in place to dissuade the rising cost of healthcare from the large nonprofit(?) hospitals.

    Regards and Happy New Year,

    Doug
