It's the first weekend in October and that means it's time to exercise your house main water value.

    1. Find the value and turn the water off.

    2. Run a cold faucet and see how the water begins to go from full flow to a trickle.

    3. Look at the water meter and ensure the numbers are NOT moving.

4a. If the numbers DO NOT move then congrads your shut off value still works. Turn on the shut off value, see the water meters numbers turn and then turn off the faucet. You are done!

4b. If the numbers are still moving, then your shut off value is no longer working right. You may need to replace it or tighten it down.

If you have 2 values like jedi does turn them both off and on to exercise them and ensure they don't get stuck.

Sadly jedi learned the HARD way in 2022 what occurs if you never exercise the value and then when you have a pipe break and you attempt to close the value and it won't close...
How many people even know where the shutoff is. Whether it is a well or city water.

I just had a bit of a technical water question at the moment and you just posted about a shutoff. It seemed like an odd coincidence.

BTW, does anyone with city water know where their water shutoff outside the house is?

jedi oversees several rental propeties and jedi knows where the location is for those located in Griffith and highland. The hammlnd one unsure but have a general idea as the property was surveyed this year so jedi knows where the water line comes in from. The actual city shut off suspect is buried under the grass area.

If you call the city/town they will come out and mark it and /or shut it off if you need to do work. For Griffith there is a fee for weekend/after hour come out.

    so could the other side.
Well as a 'side' that is not part of either side, I think I have enough ammunition to shoot down both sides.

But the one side, which I sited, factually, and which I can actually footnote, is far more egregious. The other side, which is alleged to commit many crimes, tends to fall apart on actual fact checks. And I don't mean Snopes or Politifact, which are far left supposed-fact checkers. I mean objective facts.

Most of the one side is simple allegations. Much of the one side is projection. More of the one side is lies. Some of the one side is claims without substantiation.

The reality is that the one side has been in office for 3.5 years and totally f_(#ed things up. Created massive inflation. Destroyed out energy independence. Mandated regulations that have cost jobs, increased inflation, destroyed industry, is killing "family" farming and has exasperated unhealthy lifestyles, while simultaneously destroying healthcare.

I'm not picking sides because I am neither. As I said, I'm a long time fridge 3rd party supporter, I can **** off both GOP and Democrats in the same conversation. But one side is clearly worse. Even many hardline unions are withholding endorsement from their longtime party which has "taken for granted" the union support. So I am not alone.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is alive and well here in Davenport IA. Was getting my car fleet car serviced at the dealership and the news was on. Political discussion ensued. I was astounded at the amount of people who were getting their car serviced that openly wished Trumps shooter would not have missed. Those same people also believed that Trumps ear was not hit and the shooter was unjustly killed. One of the ladies called the shooter a national hero...
These are the average American Kamala Harris supporters. They are hateful things.

And if you tell them, that if we are to start shooting political opponents, then it would be okay for you to kill them... they'd freak out and call the police.

So, ask them why they want to live like a banana republic?
Why don't they like 'democracy'. or.. AMERICA

Libturds have drank the Democrap KoolAid and adopted their warped socialist ideology.

You can’t convince them otherwise even when history tells them socialism is and will always be a failed system.

The sheeples are just too satisfied with their government handouts and welfare and EBT to think differently. This is especially true of a large portion of a certain 13% ethnic group of the population. That’s why they vote in droves for Democraps.

Even with the unmitigated disasters Democraps have turned states such as Illinois, NY, NJ, California, CT, MI, MO, etc. into, the sheeples don’t give a chit so long as they get their government handouts.

This is why ALL non Democraps MUST get off their butts and vote against Democraps and their socialist ideology otherwise we are doomed!
    Rant finished! :horse:

It depends on the meter setup. If you have a visible meter cover in the yard - there is generally a shutoff in there. Otherwise, yes, there would be one "unmarked" underground.
