Thanks guys. It's amazing how easy it is after you made a few. I will say it helps to have a bench grinder and a bandsaw but you don't need them. The next one I will make is going to be for the car mounted under the steering colum. I have to think about that one a little longer.

No, I'm waiting for the case of other mags to be in stock. I don't want to pay an extra $100 for black mags when the gray is fine.

I also don't want to throw $799 out there hoping to sell what I don't need.

Thanks. I had to buy some for $25 for a box of 25 rounds of JHPs at Walmart, which I think is too much.

I agree with Davegrave on a group purchase. I'm in need of 45 SD and plinking ammo right now.

    Little Calumet River Fest

OK I found out a bit more about this event.
Canoes can be rented for $45 for the event. The canoe will fit up to 3 people. Typically 2 adults + 1 smaller person (ie. child) in the middle. The company that rents them will provide you oars + lifevest. The trip from Hammond to Gary will take about 3 hours. At the end there will be a shuttle to bring you back to the Hammond Park so you can pick up your car.

If you are interested in doing it you can go to the website above to reserve your canoe. Or you can bring your own and do the trip as well.

this is assuming your car is still where you left it of course

The starting point is the Indiana Visitor Center at Kenndy and 80/94. Now that they got rid of the section 8 housing across the street there is NOTHING there anymore to make your car disappear. The "dock" is on that side of the street where the section 8 housing use to be.

Yea, canoeing through hammond and gary isn't my idea of a relaxing afternoon on the river....

That is ok since we have not seen u in forever we won't miss you anyways. :D From the images/video on facebook it looks like a whole different world since both sides of the banks are covered in trees. & from what I see pic white there are several eagles that have nest in the areas and pics of them where taken.

could prove a decent "moving target/active shooter" style drill though

    Hum.. good idea! NOT!!!! ;)

Is this a April Fools joke, Jedi? :dunno:

A canoe trip through Gary and Hammond on a river full of bodies and syringes and ecological hazards?

I'm pretty sure they made movie about the last guy that tried to canoe the Little Cal and fell in.

    There's a difference? :dunno:

Yes. Prior to the demo of the section 8 housing in that area. The place was a drug/gang haven. The Hammond and Highland PDs were always due to some type of issue. The small strip mall with a laundry and 2 other shops was also a mess of problems. Not sure how it occurred but a few years after the Visitor Center was put up and the place made to be more "tourist" with the Dilliger Museum the section 8 housing was just demoed. One week it was there and the following it was gone! I suspect that the excuse of fixing the little calumet river was used as that area was re-done (via the levees) and made into a park with natural trails. I have walked the trails once after they were built and while it's close to the highway (80/94) you can't tell when walking.

    It's not a joke DG.
Here is the facebook page of the group that does this:
Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More

Looks like it's similar to our M&S but instead of showing newcomers about guns, they show them about boats (canoes, kayaks, etc.). Guess they are getting better organized this year and just want to show people what is in our backyard.

The way I see it it's $45 to try it out. You don't like it. Well now you know. If you like it. Then you can go buy a canoe/kayak and enjoy the other lakes/rivers we have in Indiana. But at least this way you are going to go with a group of people who have done it before and can help you out. Hum.. sounds a LOT like our M&S. :)

Here is a few videos the guy put out.
