Or do I still need an antenna no matter what?

You ONLY need an antenna if you want to get the LOCAL broadcast TV stations (2, 5, 7, 9, 11, 20, 26, 32...)

You do NOT get regular TV through ROKU, but you get a lot of network shows through the various channels offered through the ROKU box. Some require subscriptions.

I was able to cut my Dish Network bill by 50% but I did keep a basic plan with DISH

Yeah I enjoy watching the news..... Thanks Bob. If I have more questions about Roku I know where to find ya. Sounds like you have the setup I'm looking for.

I have ROKU boxes on each of our TV sets. Using my internal WiFi connected to the internet I can stream Hulu, Netflix, Crackle and a couple hundred other channels to the sets with each TV being able to select its own channels.

1 digital antenna will give you over the air channels for all TV sets.

Oh and I agree with everything Bill B wrote.

You know, I was looking for a new signature line...

That tube is powercoated, you could never get it clean enough to sleeve the inside of it. If you don't want to mod your bumper (which is what I would still recommend) than I would recommend having a plate made at a local welding shop with a solid bar. I know Matts Repair in Lowell could do it on the cheap. If the shop doesn't have 1 1/4 inch solid stock than just buy the longest ball mount you can and cut the flange for the ball off of it and have it welded to the plate. If you go to 2 inch rear than you won't need an adapter to use the winch on the front. I am shocked to hear that they make a front hitch for an Escape.

Yup, they make a front hitch receiver. They also make brush guard bumpers. But can't fit it on with the hitch. And the brush guards don't have the ability to mount a winch.
I'm pretty decided on winch on the back. I just have to figure out what to do with that receiver.

I liked my Roku enough, I bought another for a different room. I stream Amazon.Prime with it.

so that convicted murderer that was on the loose ended up getting caught in LaPorte.....I had a weird feeling before I went to work that he was probably in LP County. They caught him about 2-3 miles from where I work. My ex-gf's dad actually works where he was first spotted stealing a vehicle out of the parking lot. I guess they chased him east and got him when he fled on foot

I thought the same thing when they said they thought he would head for Tennessee....that there was no way he would actually do that and had a 50/50 shot of heading west from his last sighting. Creepy stuff. Glad they got him.

yah according to news reports he wasn't sure where he was going...just wanted someplace warm.

Also he never really got to flee on foot. 2 LP county officers were able to get to him and cuff him before he was even able to get out of the car.

a multi-element antenna is better than rabbit ears. Unless you're trying for channel two, then nothing works.

    ^this...
channel 2 is 95% of the time not avaliable with any antenna from chicago.
but there are tons of other channels that are free (movie channels, me tv, etc)

Couple years ago I bought and mounted an HD antenna on the roof, forget the brand, got it from ABT. it's huge, like about 10 foot wide. Reception on all the locals (including 2) is crystal clear. Still have Comcast... nobody ever even uses it... :dunno:
I have smart TVs and bluray players along with my xbox and Chromecast. Still pay for a top tier u-verse package.
this is what irritates me. I'm down from like $195/month for triple play on Comcast to about $165 after killing the premium channels nobody ever watches. the only reason the 2nd dvr even is here is because my son an I record and watch 2 or 3 shows on it. What a waste of money. the other dvr my wife has on pause 75% of the time... drives me nuts.

OK thug-redneck as I'm not quite sure where you live. ;)

    1) Dial 1-800-934-6489 (Comcast Customer Server)
    2) Tell them to cancel everything

    Problem solved!
You save $165 a month, the family will be PO for about 1 week while they detox and find something else to do.
Here are the very simple directions.

This is why I downsized my satellite subscription and bought a few ROKU boxes. My satellite bill is about $75/month.

I even put a ROKU box in a room where we have a "Smart Hub" Blu Ray player because that little ROKU boxes are so simple. So now all of them operate the same way, and all have the same content available.

The cost of the ROKU boxes was saved by the reduction in the Dish Network subscription, so I'm saving money overall. I do pay for Amazon Video (comes 'free' as part of Amazon Prime), Hulu+ and Netflix. We watch Netflix the most. Not sure I get my money out of Hulu+ and I may drop that subscription. Amazon Instant Video is only good because I already have Amazon Prime membership, but if you are not an Amazon Prime member then Amazon Instant Video is not good enough to pay for.

He's a redneck. Actually, Jedi, that's not a bad idea, because then Comcast will offer him a discount to stay. I do it about every 6 months with AT&T.

We watch and record too many current shows to drop it. I'd love to cut it back, but I just can't. My "discounts" were up at the new year so I called it to get my bill reduced again, tried to go from u300 to u200 but it was going to end up costing me MORE to downgrade because of how they do their discounting. The biggest thing that pisses me off is all the "new customer deals" for $199.99 triple play, but I have to pay $150 for LESS because I'm a loyal customer.

To bad they aren't a loyal provider.
