Well, #3 is actually true and he carries his bag with him every where he goes.

He's not so much scared of girls as he is interested by their inner workings.
He has the bag in order to have his dissection tools close at hand when he sees easy prey of random transient women.
Give him a few years and I'm sure he'll have his pit constructed so he can turn his skin suit into a reality.
