Fever free, nausea free, pain free... Just a touch of vertigo still left.

Guessing I'm at 93%, will be at 100% once the vertigo is over. But not to worried about that, had it for well over a month now.

Even ate real food a couple hours ago and it's all good.

yes lake is the **ONLY** one in indiana.
how has lake lived without one, yet the rest of the state has not?

The steel mills and support businesses provided enough money through taxes that Lake County didn't need a tax.

The steel mills pay a much smaller percent of the overall tax now.
And spending by the State and County, has not gone down.
    Therefore.............

The outside Christmas lights are finally down.
    :rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot:

    Happy I am.

Unfortunately, they are wet. So I had to leave them in the garage with a fan blowing across them.
Maybe they'll get boxed up tomorrow, highly unlikely though.
I think I'm taking Black Betty and the new scope out for a spin tomorrow. Between that and OC at the 1101, the day is probably shot.

And I still have to take down the Christmas tree in the house. Another couple hours.

Thanks to repeter for the help.

Oh Heck, sooo now instead of paying 57% of what I make I'm gonna have to pay an additional 1.5%, plus the additional 4% in SS tax... Dang I'm having real problems with this whole tax thingy... Well since the County is able to collect the tax, maybe they don't need the revenue's they are taking from the Casino's... I thought the whole reason for bringing the Casinos to Lake county was to keep from stealing a county tax from us. If thier gonna collect this tax they should have to close the casino's it would only be fair right ???

    rambling over...

A couple years ago I was eating lunch, overheard one of the tables must have been having a business lunch.
They were talking about a 1 percent addition to the sales tax, to fund some stupid project, a ball park or something.
    I restrained myself.
But I wanted to go over there and stomp.

What's in store for Christmas 2013's lights and music display, that will be going up in about seven months?

    Well, I would say it's a secret.

But, other than submarine secrets, I suck at keeping them.

I have bought a bunch more lights for next year, I just have to plan what I'm gonna do.

Presently, what you see in the videos (Youtube--- type in Merrillville Christmas Lights)
is two controllers, each has 16 outputs. For a total of 32 outputs.

    All outputs are presently used.
Most have between 1 and 5 strings on an output, so the controller has more amps left. I can always add more to an output.

    For instance.
On the left side this year, there are 5 snowflakes in the tree that "decend".
I cheated, and put those on the same outputs as the blue lights in the "tree of string lights"
Top snowflake goes to blue #1,
    2nd goes to blue #2,
    etc.
So as I make the tree swirl 1-2-3-4-5-6, the snowflake appears to fall.
I can add the same to each channel.

But that wouldn't be more fun, would it?

I'm planning on buying 2 more controllers. That would double my outputs from 32 to 64. Now we can have some fun.

    Option 1 (dualing banjo option)
The one tree I already have, that's made up of 6 blue and 6 green strings.
Each string starts at the ground, goes to the peak, then goes back down to the ground. So it appears to be 2 strings, it's actually an upside down V.

Plan is to make another tree. TALLER.
    And use red and white.
So I would have 12 red and 12 white (cause each string would only go up)
That would burn up 24 of the 32 outputs.
Then I could add a red string to the green string around the yard.
And a green string to the red string on the left tree.
hula hoops around both trees, with lights on the hula hoop. Kinda like a bent figure 8.

    Option 2
Forget a second tree. I already have one. Why repeat?
If you watch one of my videos from 2009, on the right is a real tree that doesn't exist anymore.
I used the bush lights on it. A square of lights 4ft by 4ft.
Each square went to an output.
    I went 3 squares high.
    and 5 squares across.
15 squares, and it didn't even cover a quarter of the tree.

    New plan.
Use 1x2s to create the same thing using strings. Shrink squares to 3x3 ft.
This one would be 5 squares high, 5 squares wide.
    That's 25 outputs.
Leaving me 7 outputs to then divide up.

Well, is that more than you wanted to know???
The wife, grandson, and I enjoyed the 2012 display and the wife told all her family and friend's about your display. Can't wait to see the new and improved display. Need to put up a hot chocolate and Lego stand to help pay for the NIPSCO bill.

I didn't measure the electricity this year.
But the last it averaged 65 watts.
I have to average it, because the lights keep changing. I put a watt-meter on it overnight, find the total watt-hours, calculate the watts.

    65 watts is pretty low.
It's less than a 100 watt light bulb.

You have to remember, if you actually watch a single bulb, you will find it spends a lot of time off.
And they are LEDs. Less power used.
It's actually cheaper than having them on all the time.
