I have to drive to Ohio this weekend to meet my brother so that we can take our Dad's car away from him. He is 86 and no longer competent to drive. It will be sad for him but he knows that it's coming. We spoke of it recently and he remembered having to do the same thing with my grandmother. Life moves in a full circle and is filled with irony. I will always remember the first time he let me borrow the keys to his car at age 16. Now, I am taking the keys away from him. Not that many years ago, he was a whiz with a computer and an outstanding amateur photographer. Today, he can't even operate the TV remote.

My thoughts are with you. Had to do the same with my grandmother a few years ago. She now lives in Florida near my remaining uncles (my dad passed over 20 years ago) and is polite to me when I call her but I don't think she remembers my name.

My paternal grandmother developed dementia the last few years of her life. The last year of her life was especially tough. She passed away in April 2020 from Covid while living in a nursing home.

My maternal grandmother, 92, has sun down dementia. She is as sharp as a tack during the day, but at night wants to go home. I'll say a prayer for your family. Best of luck with your trip

Stoopid ice. Walking the dog last night I hit a patch and down I went. The dog stood there and looked like I was stupid or something, then decided that since I was on the ground it was time to play.

NO DOG...I fell on my shoulder and it hurts. Now, instead of just being old, I'm old and grumpy like @2A_Tom.

A couple years ago, I went down on some ice at work.
It was not only the hardest I went down, but I thought there might be paramedics involved, and then the inevitable safety investigation and video.
Ugh.

Because of the sun there was a thin layer of water on top, soaking into my clothes.
I wanted to get up.
But it took a while.
