Portillo's is not a GFZ per founder CEO Dick Portillo. I OC there once or twice a year.

He sold the chain to Berkshire-Hathaway corporation.

Their corporate policy is very anti-gun.

Oh, and lots of people see the "vintage" NRA signs at Portillos and assume they are pro gun.

Even NRA members are fooled.

That sign is the sign of the National Recovery Act, which is the depression era socialist program of make-work-jobs, very much the model for the failed Obama era "shovel ready" jobs initiative.

Well you could ask for unsalted french fries. They might laugh at you. But you could ask.

ive had their beef and malt on the IL side and those were :gross:.

they say they are know for that so i tried that.
after that experience have not gone back.

five guys which i hate the burger has better fries.
heck ill take burger king fries whixh are bottom of the barrel before ****tillos.

Well, that was an interesting chain going. Zels is always better than Portillos. Didn't care for 5 guys burgers or fries. Red Robins are great, Schoops is great.

the problem with 5 guys is lack of flavor. its just a huge chunck of meat but its blah.

red robin r u crazy! that is an overpriced bk burger. they just put those via a motorized heater.

schoops is awesome but cant really compare to the others as i dont think they use ground beef more its a mix of that and other parymts of the cow thus not a true hamburger that is just ground beef.

there are 2 other places that had better burgers.
a place calles rubys in southern cali.

and b.w. anderson which was at key lime cover in gunerre, il. sadly that one is gone now.

I used to like red Robins but they would usually seat us by the door where all the kids balloons are floating and randomly popping. If you couldn't tell I prefer a stress free dining experience.

Portillo's had "No Guns" signs for a period. The signs came down after a while. I witnessed open carry in there after the "No Guns" signs came down and nobody was having a cow. That was about a year ago. Maybe things changed?

Anyway, I'll go against the grain here and say they have the best burgers and fries of any chain ... better than Five Guys, Schoops, Red Robin, etc.



It's a dual sport ... good for the road and trail. The EL is the trail I had in mind. I plan on riding my neighborhood daily and doing a trail at least once a week.
