Picked up 1/2 beef & 1/2 hog and rolling back up north. Wife came with and is still doing quite well after yesterday's procedure.

Where'd you go through, and what was the per pound price, if you don't mind me asking. Going to be doing the same soon.
The beef is raised by Dad in SE Indiana. The pig was raised by a friend of the family. This whole beef was 1355 lbs. @$1.25 per pound(which is down $0.20 per lb from last year).
    The whole hog weighed 355 lbs. @$.36 = $127.80.
Now keep in mind processing varies on what you get done, so mine was $395 total as a ballpark on 2 halves in my situation.

I get the son discount though, so the info listed are man off the street prices.. ;)

I hear ya, good to have connections. Thanks for the info.
It is also piece of mind and quality as I know for a fact how everything was raised. We have also used this locker for years and have been behind the scenes many times to observe processing and handling.
Ya, it's one big "buy one, cry once" situation, but if you run the numbers from store costs, savings are huge!
In fact, we have been doing this for so long that the wife just looked up some store prices and her jaw dropped as did mine!

If you don't have a farmer lined up, most lockers will do the leg work for you as it's a win win for all involved.

Oh, I know. We can usually only swing a 1/4 beef and 1/2 hog at a time. Do the beef a couple times a year, and the hog 3-4. Thought I heard that beef prices had come down a bit.
