Apparently the general public is too stupid to be able to do something as simple as order their own meals without killing themselves. Thankfully Bloomczar is there to take care of them, since he is smarter than the rest, and tell them how to handle such things through regulations.

Rush was reading some man on the street interviews. All the out of towners thought it was nuts. But not the local natives, bless their little hearts. They felt good about helping all of those poor obese people by cutting out their big colas.... Bunch of dimwits.

Imagine going to New York City and declaring, "I would like to abort this unborn child and have a 20 oz Coke" and being told, "Are you crazy?!? A twenty ounce Coke is illegal!

Brings to mind a passage from Reagan's 1961 speech.

One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It's very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project.

    Hey INGO,

As if you didn't know... get all your friends to hold their nose and vote for Romney this fall or (without any concern for re-election) Moochell Obama will be made our "Food Czar" and make Mayor Bloomers look like the mayor of Candyland.

    Get out the vote!

    We have a winner here.

It's not about health folks, it's about control, and NOBODY loves control more than these guys.
You are so right. It is to get everybody used to being told what to do. It may be related to the Jefferson-Adams argument whether the random man was able to make good decisions about the common good. And yes, the people like the Mayor are above it all. I bet they tax evil sodas, so banning a 20 oz means mr/ms fatarse will order more than one 16 oz thereby paying more tax.............so then it isn't about evil, or health, it's about generating more money, for what use?

Billionaire Bloomberg's ego must be as big as the great outdoors. He has put himself above the average people he "rules". He gets taxpayer paid for 24/7 security, but wants to deny average citizens the right to self-defense, because he doesn't think that the average citizen can be trusted. Now he doesn't think the average citizen is entitled to make choices as simple as what heretofore legal beverages he may buy and consume. This is one slippery slope after another. I recon that he will be dictating what fast food he will allow next. I am truly amazed that free citizens will tolerate his heavy-handed rule. If he were an elected official in this state he would have faced impeachment or recall a long time ago.

The Bloomberg was on the Today Show. Matt asked him about doing this when people are against it. He used his leadership in the anti-smoking in public movement. He said it was unpopular at first and now it is highly welcomed by the public. We have seen how many people right here on this board support stripping private property rights from business owners to please themselves. So maybe Bloomberg is right. I think it is immoral and should not be allowed in a free society, but maybe it will be popular with the anti-smokers here on this board.

Bloomberg's comparison with anti-smoking laws is very weak. Second hand smoke is at least an irritant and may in fact be harmful. What kind of soda folks drink and to what amounts doesn't affect others' immediate welfare.

Oh, there you are wrong... there is nothing more irritating to the beautiful people than having to associate with a bunch of fat ugly people... most of them smell, they take up too much space, they even bump into us sometimes, they make noises sometimes... really, it is too much to expect for us to have to be around them
