I'm at one now... I'll go check the entry way.

    Hey, you're right!

I guess I am expected to rely on this 300 pound fata$$ security guy for my protection... Even though I think my 14 year old daughter could kick his a$$.

    Oh well, I'll keep carrying.

Even though the sign says those violating the policy may be subject to arrest, all they can do is ask one to leave. Now, if one refuses to leave then one can be arrested for trespassing.

I would rather rely on my Government 1911 than this fata$$ security guy. I'm not sure that guy could even see his feet!
It was posted on the interwebz.. how could I have possibly been wrong. :D

I do try to not speak unless I know what I'm talking about.. Rare, I know.

What? photographing the species: Democrat, Genus: Liberal, in it's home habitat isn't enough? What kind of a photographer misses out on something like that?
But the Simon mall here is "The College Mall" .
Although I've never been there I think You'd need to go to Mishawaka for that one?:dunno:

Fixed it, thanks. I don't know why I did that. I know it's College Park Mall. I've carried there both camera and sidearm too.

    You're all over it.

I would post a picture of this "security guard" here that I am expected to rely on for the protection of my family and myself, but I wouldn't want to cause a scene by photographing the fata$$.

Grandparents kicked out of mall after taking picture of grandson

"Two grandparents were kicked out of the University Park Mall Tuesday after they took a picture of their visiting grandson in the Food Court."...

    :dunno:

Monumental fail on the part of the security staff in verbal judo/people skills.

This couldn't have ended much worse, unless you consider the security guard could have pulled a gun on the poor grandfather.

Nicely done, fellas. Now you got some great publicity for your mall.

    Nice.

didn't see anything but if you would like to post some grievances like i did on there fb page University park mall

and this has been for the most part their response

"University Park Mall We are truly sorry for the incident that occurred yesterday. With safety being of the utmost priority, it is company policy to ask for no photography in the mall. We had an overzealous employee who strictly enforced a policy that is designed to protect our patrons, merchants, and employees. We are trying to reach out to the family and apologize for the way this occurred, and we will continue to serve the South Bend community."

WTF!!! I didn't realize that cameras were so dangerous that people need to be protected from them.

I think I'll go there (cc'ing as usual), but take my nice camera in there and start snapping pics, and when they whine about it, I'll just leave and tell them to bite me when they ask me to delete my pictures, saying "i got what I need." :)

About the time this so-called "Security Person" threatened to physically remove me, they better be on the phone with the real "Po-Po". I have never and never will be physically removed from any place by a "Security Person". This goes 10-fold for doing absolutly nothing illegal.

[I'm trying to "sugar coat" this so I won't get banned for saying what I really want to say.]

In this instance it is as much to protect the customers and as anything else. The employees too. Some people don't want to have pictures of themselves floating around the world that they are not aware of. Especially in a casino. I can think of several scenarios where that could be less than beneficial.

Yes a large part of it was to protect customer privacy. But there are other reasons than that. I was serious when I said writing impliments were technically banned. Yes you could and would be kicked out over a pencil an a piece of paper.

I do carry at this mall vs leaving my cc in the car when I go in. Never had a problem although I did almost get run down by a security officer on one of the segways. He was on his way to the Subway shop and cut me off. Made me laugh out loud....

I can't believe they are serious with this. Anyone wishing to record images or videos can do just that covertly with any of a variety of commercially available camera devices, (glasses, ink pen, briefcase, etc.). In fact I'm going to a Simon mall this AM and record some images. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

If one of those security guards flashed a 'badge' at me, I don't think I would be able to contain my laughter....Mall security is necessary and I'll never disrespect a person who is working and trying to do their job. But as soon as they start acting like something they aren't, they kind of become a joke.

I think the term 'overzealous' mentioned in their reply unfortunately applies to a lot of these folks.

The UP guys have the Segways just like the Blart.
WTF!? NO WAY! Please say your just making that up!:laugh::laugh::laugh: Nothing, but NOTHING says douche bag like a security guard on a segueway! I believe I would literally be rolling on the floor of said mall if I were to see that!:laugh::laugh::laugh:
I guess nobody told those guys that Paul Blart was a parody of how silly they look.

Side note-I have an app on my phone that will snap a photo every 5 or 10 seconds until you stop it. Allowing you to walk around like you're talking on the phone while shooting pics. I think it's called "spy kit".

Just about every Simon mall has them, Mel was friends with Dean Kamen. On another note, and not that it makes much difference the security guards are usually a contracted company and not directly Simon employees.

She also said the mall does not immediate remove shoppers after a picture is taken, but will remove guests who do not comply with requests to stop taking photos or are aggressive with staff.

Looks like we can go and snap away then leave when asked and never manage to purchase anything.
