They're just trying to protect John Q. Public. If they start letting people carry cameras into the mall it will just end up with little 5 year old girls stealing them and "shooting" people.

Probably not terrorist, but financial or security. When I worked at some casinos cameras were banned, and if you were seen taking pictures with your your phone security was supposed to ask you to delete them with them watching, if you refused or were caught again, automatic trespassed. Heck writing tools were technically banned.

In this instance it is as much to protect the customers and as anything else. The employees too. Some people don't want to have pictures of themselves floating around the world that they are not aware of. Especially in a casino. I can think of several scenarios where that could be less than beneficial.

It is a stupid rule anyways. There are plenty of pocket, eyeglass and pen cams that people could use if they were wanting to case a place for theft or attack.

I've never seen a "No Firearms" sign at a Simon mall... at least not in Indiana.

nothing posted on doors about any of their "rules"

but its part of their rules....which is posted where...by their offices...which is where?

in the middle of the mall...

    :dunno:

i see it like this...if they cant see my "weapon" then they can't say nothing...what they dont know wont hurt em

I've been to three simon malls and at all of their entry ways they have a "patron code of conduct" (may not be exact name) and that is where they list it.

I've always carried at Simon malls.
All they can do is ask me to leave.
I think I will continue to carry ... despite the safety of a gun free zone.

    What a crock.

    Hey, you're right!

I guess I am expected to rely on this 300 pound fata$$ security guy for my protection... Even though I think my 14 year old daughter could kick his a$$.

    Oh well, I'll keep carrying.

Even though the sign says those violating the policy may be subject to arrest, all they can do is ask one to leave. Now, if one refuses to leave then one can be arrested for trespassing.

I would rather rely on my Government 1911 than this fata$$ security guy. I'm not sure that guy could even see his feet!

Photography is not a crime. Nor is taking pictures in a mall. I've walked around Greenwood Park Mall (a Simon property) both carrying and with my large pro-sized camera and lenses around my neck taking pictures. Not a word was ever said to me about either.

I wish I had reasons to go to Mishawaka. I'd go walk around UP Mall with my camera, gun and digital recorder and the several copies of the .pdf I linked above that I keep in my camera bag.

    Edit: Fixed the town.

There are lots of paths into the Simon malls that I've been in, and other paths back out, which don't even go by one of those posted signs(many of the paths are through the individual stores). I guess it's important enough to throw you out, but not important enough to let you know before you go in.

    What a crock.

its only a gun free zone to the people who fear being ejected and obey rules like this (but the bad guy dont care about the rules. legal gun owners are not the concern in my opinion its the baddies. myself i always carry unless the "law" says not "simon" says...gun free zone = easy target/victim zone(which i intend on not being)

its ok the "security" at the mall has been trained the paul blart way "pretend" to have a "weapon" to show "farce" (i know...lol)...so all customers/employees are "safe"

i think i'll rely on myself for my and my families safety:draw:

What? photographing the species: Democrat, Genus: Liberal, in it's home habitat isn't enough? What kind of a photographer misses out on something like that?
But the Simon mall here is "The College Mall" .
Although I've never been there I think You'd need to go to Mishawaka for that one?:dunno:
