“The parents of the victims of the Covenant School in Nashville, TN, have begged Davidson County Chancery Court to withhold from the public Audrey Hale’s manifesto and all documents belonging to the shooter, which were legally gifted to the parents of the victims by the shooter’s parents.”

“Gifting the documents to the parents of the victims is odd. But for the parents of the victims to then assert that they hold some kind of “copyright” on those documents is twisted on its face and one cannot help but wonder what really is behind this enormous effort to withhold information about Audrey Hale.”

“One also must wonder whether the Covenant School’s history of sexual abuse that is widely reported on social media had any role in Hales attack on the school. Was Hale aware of the rumored sexual abuse or, God forbid, was Hale a victim? Who knows? It’s anyone’s guess. And this is the problem with withholding any data that may shed light on what led to Hale’s inexplicable murderous actions.”

How can this be a "Breaking Exclusive"? Ive already seen this elsewhere, and Joe is just reprinting and commenting on the AbleChild story.

But anyway. This whole gifting thing smells funny. Like they are using the family as a scapegoat that cant be vilified.

.Gov: "look, we'd love to release it, but it belongs to the parents of the victims now. Its their choice. Now you wouldnt go attacking some poor, grieving families would you? That would be cruel. Shame on you!"

Whats happening is they are making Hale more infamous. Release it to the public, study it to help prevent something like this from happening again. Than Hale will just be a distant memory. Just my 2 cents.

The thing with copyright means there needs to be a monetary loss. Who ever that is claiming ownership of this manifesto, the law prevents someone else from making a profit off of it. Now something else. If going thru a publishing company such as BMI, SESAC, OR ASCAP and royalties paid to said publishing company. Than 2nd party can do what ever they wish with the works. This will get shot down by a judge that isn't partisan. And I do not understand why the parents of the victims are trying to protect this mental ill freak. The research alone done by professionals can save lives. But what do I know. Grrrr this article angers me.

Nashville Judge I’Ashea Myles has decided that none of Nashville school shooter Audrey Hale’s writings should be made public, accepting the dubious argument that Hale’s victims have copyrights to the material—even though the victims haven’t registered with the federal copyright office.

The materials created by Hale are exempted from disclosure based on the federal Copyright Act,Myles said.

“Whether or not an original work of authorship has been registered with the federal copyright office is germane to the amount of recoverable damages in a copyright infringement action, but it has no bearing on whether or not this state law is preempted by federal copyright law,” she said.

Two sided justice system to be sure.

The author of it, did NOT file a copyright.

So... F all the way off.
Filing doesn't really mater if there is proof that this mental ill freak created it. It is still property of the creator. And I use this term loosely, it is called intellectual property. But once again it depends if someone else has made a profit off of it, than there is damages and grounds for a lawsuit.

Edit. May I remind you of Hunter's laptop. The pictures published off of it is also intellectual property of Hunter. Who is the son of the clown in chief. Where are all the judges claiming copyright law with that?
