    Yeah, well I don't wanna be a one-upper, but I was once voted Most Improved Player on my Wakarusa Little League team.:cool:

    Oh, and Miss Indiana rode with me on my dad's tractor in the Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival Parade. Or was it the Nappanee Apple Festival Parade? I can't remember, but I DO remember Miss Indiana.:drool:

    This year or last year? Because if you mean Terrin, then I'll say "She slept at my house and I braided her hair."
    Of course she was just in elementary school... but still. LOL

    Oh no, years ago. Probably early 90's. My wife would not happy if I enthusiastically invited a hot 20 something chick to go for a tractor ride.:bat:

    Being an ex LEO I would have liked to been informed of the weapon. From my stand point, you are being courteous and upfront with the officer.

    Why? How do you benefit, personally or professionally, from knowing it's there?

    And what if I only tell you about the gun on my hip? What if I don't tell you about the one that's also in my purse?

    I'd go to court on this one and say I replaced it immediately after. Any judge in his right mind will toss the ticket.

    Glad you had a good experience. However, I still do not recommend informing unless you believe the officer will see or become aware of the fact that you have a firearm.
    The judge has no legal authority to toss such a ticket.

    I also want a cite to a court opinion binding in Indiana that an officer may confiscate and run a gun during a traffic stop, pro forma.

    You are getting awfully close to giving legal advice. IAALBNYL

    Thanks for the support Sawed off. I still feel that I made the right choice. I travel in several of the surrounding states that are must inform so I am taking the approach of tell them all until I have a reason not to.

    How did you know that I had a purse..... Oh I mean a European carry bag. Actually it is a Powerbag that has a built in battery and cords to charge my iPad, iPhone and bluetooth. The kids at church come up to me and ask if I have any candy in my purse. :xmad:
    I tell it is called a murse. Gez..... don't these kids know anything?

    I have had such tickets dismissed if I took the time to go to court.

    I need one of those powerbags. My kids are power suckers. I think they actually hook up to the device for the juice. They just pretend they're playing on them.

    As to your purse, er, murse choices. Just don't carry a white one between Labor Day and Memorial Day. Total fashion faux pas.

    carrying a weapon in a car in itself is not against the law. The new law states that hand guns can be transported in a case from home to the range, from home to the armorer, from home to another dwelling.

    Correct but it must be unloaded, secured in a case and not readily accessible.

    carrying a weapon in a car in itself is not against the law. The new law states that hand guns can be transported in a case from home to the range, from home to the armorer, from home to another dwelling.

    You're mixing up the old law and the new law. The old law stated you could transport it from place of purchase to home, to a place of repair or in moving residence or place of business (nothing about the range). The new law does not have those restrictions. You can transport it anywhere you can legally possess it now as long is it properly stored. For instance you could take it when you run to the store or where ever you care to go(See (3) and (4)). To have it out of your vehicle for example to carry it on your body there are additional restrictions (See (2) and (5)).
    Sec. 1. (a) Except as provided in subsections (b) and (c) and
    section 2 of this chapter, a person shall not carry a handgun in any
    vehicle or on or about the person's body without being licensed under
    this chapter to carry a handgun.
    (b) Except as provided in subsection (c), a person may carry a
    handgun without being licensed under this chapter to carry a handgun
    if:
    (1) the person carries the handgun on or about the person's body
    in or on property that is owned, leased, rented, or otherwise
    legally controlled by the person;
    (2) the person carries the handgun on or about the person's body
    while lawfully present in or on property that is owned, leased,
    rented, or otherwise legally controlled by another person, if the
    person:
    (A) has the consent of the owner, renter, lessor, or person
    who legally controls the property to have the handgun on the
    premises;
    (B) is attending a firearms related event on the property,
    including a gun show, firearms expo, gun owner's club or
    convention, hunting club, shooting club, or training course;
    or
    (C) is on the property to receive firearms related services,
    including the repair, maintenance, or modification of a
    firearm;
    (3) the person carries the handgun in a vehicle that is owned,
    leased, rented, or otherwise legally controlled by the person, if
    the handgun is:
    (A) unloaded;
    (B) not readily accessible; and
    (C) secured in a case;
    (4) the person carries the handgun while lawfully present in a
    vehicle that is owned, leased, rented, or otherwise legally
    controlled by another person, if the handgun is:
    (A) unloaded;
    (B) not readily accessible; and
    (C) secured in a case; or
    (5) the person carries the handgun:
    (A) at a shooting range (as defined in IC 14-22-31.5-3);
    (B) while attending a firearms instructional course; or
    (C) while engaged in a legal hunting activity.

    Correct but it must be unloaded, secured in a case and not readily accessible.

    How it has to be transported is correct.

    This is the first time I have been pulled over since I started carring everyday. I will have to say that this officer helped to solidify my choice to inform. I will continue to do so until I have a negative interaction and that may change my method.
    I've actually gotten out of more than one ticket simply because I informed the officer.
