Driving a car without a Drivers License is illegal as well, that is why I have a drivers license. The reason I have a LTCH is so that I can legally carry in my car. If they feel the need to disarm me then that is something that I will deal with if it ever happens. I don't have a tin foil hat so I'm too worried about them knowing the serial number of my EDC, or broadcasting over the air that I have a gun. I do know how to reassemble my firearm.

Wheather or not there is any benefit to informing is personal preference. Yours is not to and mine is to inform. I travel to several states for work and some of them require you to inform. I choose to pick one method and run with it until I have been forced to change my opinion.

I respect your decision and I can only hope your ca respect mine.

Yes, and that is why they ask for your drivers license. They begin by investigating that. It is not a personal preference if there is any benefit or not. It is a fact: no benefit.

A sheriff once told me to never inform the officer you're carrying UNTIL you're asked. Simply because you don't know what kind of officer has pulled you over, a pro gun or an anti-gun officer. If asked, then inform. The truth is always better than lying.

That's the advice I will always follow if I'm ever pulled over.

    He has a Larry.

And the "officer safety" has to be articulated with justification of something more than the mere fact of possessing a firearm.

I was fully aware he has a larry. Also, pretty much all the officer has to do is say "I didn't feel comfortable with him having a gun during the stop" and justification met. So basically, in reality, no justification.

Great advice. Although if asked I would probably just reply with "nothing illegal" so confiscation doesn't follow. Not answering, or fully answering, an officers question like that is not lying. It is exercising your right.

I must have missed that town the last time I was in Northern Indiana. I think that I have been all over this fine state but every once in a while I still hear of places that are new to me.

Between Elkhart and Nappanee. It used to be the home of Utilimaster... used to...

I had to Google it to see where it was located. I am sure it is a wonderful town with a proud history. The name just struck me as funny.

The officer has to be able to articulate a specific reason why he is uncomfortable.

Yet they don't. Which is the point. Many people on here have posted stories of their guns being confiscated for no reason other than the officer didn't like them having it or the officer felt they had a right to run it to make sure it was stolen.

Glad the 411 on the firearm didn't backfire (pun intended), but I'm still of the opinion that blabbing isn't in the favor of the one getting pulled over. I'm not sayin' Jack.
Not that it would matter... I pretty much know most of the coppers who'd nab me. Spent range time with some of them. Accidentally burned up one's duty ammo. (muh bad)
And if I happen to leave my little safe zone and venture to the big city and it's Sarge470 who nails my ride...well...he still owes me one escorted bank robbery... maybe I'll trade it for a get-out-of-ticket-free card.

It's some kind of indian for "knee deep in mud".;)

eaten several times at Cook's Pizza.

Waky's only 5 star dining. Stan and Steve are royalty in that town.:yesway:

I drive to and from work on SR19 every day and I almost never see anybody pulled over.:dunno:

I think they are a little more forgiving early in the AM and late in the afternoon. At least, that's what I tell myself.:D

The stromboli's are really good there and the old solo coffe cups with the replaceable liners take you back in time.
Never under estimate the power of hot coffee and fresh doughnuts in the morning. :coffee::coffee:

On a side note: I hope you didn't just jinx yourself.

There used to be a great family style Amish place north of town. The name escapes me, but I think it was Come and Dine or something similar.

South side loop;), but yeah, it was good. The place in there now is, meh, call it ok.:dunno:

I worked at Monaco Coach for 9 years in Wakarusa. They also have this>>>>>>> The Wakarusa Dime Store

Yeah, well I don't wanna be a one-upper, but I was once voted Most Improved Player on my Wakarusa Little League team.

Oh, and Miss Indiana rode with me on my dad's tractor in the Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival Parade. Or was it the Nappanee Apple Festival Parade? I can't remember, but I DO remember Miss Indiana.

What's a south side loop? I haven't been in that area since I lived in South Bend in 92-93.

The couple hundred yards of town, south of CR40 is the south side loop, and the couple hundred yards north of CR40 is the greater northside metro area.
