Well, as you probably know, a grand jury wouldn't have made much of a difference to a prosecution with a vendetta, since the GJ only gets to hear one side of the story.

Thus my qualifier of "a fair and dispassionate presentation" in the post.

LOL, fitting avatar for such a discussion. "Where'd you learn that? From the internet." :):

Actually, I learned of the Duke LaCrosse team and Mike Nifong from multiple sources.

Though you can just believe what you want, but Nifong was disbarred for his actions in this matter.

Having been gone a few days, I am not surprised at much of what I have found upon returning home.

All I can say for the police dumping magazines into the wrong targets is this:

The 1st Law - The Gun Is Always Loaded!

The 2nd Law - Never Point The Gun At Something You Are Not Prepared To Destroy!

The 3rd Law - Always Be Sure Of Your Target And What Is Behind It!

The 4th Law - Keep Your Finger Off The Trigger Until Your Sights Are On The Target!

If we are expected to live by these standards, I should think that 'professionals' should be, rather than having people make lame excuses for them because the poor little cowardly babies got spooked, jumped at shadows, and started pumping lead into anything that happened to be in the same state with their suspect.

Forget the target, they destroyed cars and damaged houses all up and down the block with their wild firing and undisciplined trigger fingers. Nothing those women did presented an actual threat.

    Yeah...

    1) be sure of your target (they weren't), and

    2) you are responsible for where every round goes. Those guys don't know where half of their rounds ended up.

At least Dorner has only shot the specific individuals he intended to shoot. Unfortunately, we can't even say that much for the police.

And there lies the irony that will unfortunately be lost on the majority of people.

....as well as believe that the police misconduct is merely an isolated incident, and not worthy of taking steps to correct.

Didnt this whole thing start because of police denying claims of misconduct? That is what the crazy man is angry about isnt it?

He made claims of misconduct, and was fired. Says he wants to get his name back, or something to that effect.

The police do even worse than the accusations made, to the public, in plain view. Kinda makes the LAPD look like they are more than capable of violating the citizens since they are violating the citizens in pursuit of Dorner in plain view of the world and everyone.

All they would need to do is give him his wish and aggree to their own guilt (no matter if true or not in the particular case he has filed) and this would likley all go away. You would (ironicly) take away his moral ground.

He has been kicked out of the LAPD "he man club" and they wont swallow their pride to defuse the situation.
And they do not care how many trucks they have to riddle with bullets, or innocent people get shot. This is a price they are willing to pay, for the club must stick together.

his claims of misconduct did not suface until the process to remove him from the force due to his unsuitability for law enforcement started. If he was concerned with corruption, maybe he should have brought those issues to light before he was fired. Given the circumstances, I would have to side with LAPD that he might not be stable enough for law enforcement

This... exactly. Plenty of officers across the nation are mistreated by their depts... this is the only one to go out killing innocent people. His suitability is definitely in question.

Don't bother, Destro. They wish to think that every officer is responsible for this act and would do the same.

They're using the same tactics as the gun grabbers.
If they can vilify the entire group the Sheeple will go along with the notion that they deserve the bad things that happen to them.
Mr Alinsky would be very proud.

LAPD really dropped the ball here. I understand they're all on edge, but this many bloody and nearly fatal mistakes against innocent bystanders is just unacceptable.

so premeditated muder is better than an accidental shooting

Not in moral terms, but there is something to be said for taking the small modicum of trouble to identify his target before opening fire. The police apparently couldn't be trusted to manage even that much.
