ETA: Bought an XD45c. See page 6 for my thoughts on it.

I am in the market for a new carry gun. Currently use a Glock 19. Would like something about the same size, but considering moving to .45 ACP. Really looking hard at the M&P45 compact. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks.

A 1911 is hardly an upgrade to a Glock when "reliability" is your first criteria in a fighting firearm. The HK, or a Sig in .45.....

or you could stop trying to reinvent the wheel and pick up a Glock 21 SF :)

I too like the 21SF option - but honestly you're gaining size, cost for practicing with your carry gun, more recoil, and losing rounds in the magazine.

And since handguns suck at killing people why wouldn't you want more rds in the magazine?

XD45C, problem solved. Rest assured you will find no more reliable gun.

This isn't what people are saying that put them through a class over at Tactical Response...FYI

BUT I would suggest this over a 1911 if you had to get an XD - and I would suggest a XD in 9mm over one in .45 -

    I definitely wouldn't buy a Glock 36 - I've heard they have issues + it's only what 6rds in the mag? :noway:

My first recommendation would be to stick with the G19.

Second, if you're set on .45, would be the XD45C.

    Third, the Glock 30.

    Fourth, S&W M&P .45 Compact.

I shot one the other day, and I was less than impressed.

    Kahr P45 or CW45.

The lighest and thinnest single-stack .45s on the planet....unless you want one of their PM45s. Those things are downright TINY.
