No, I admitted to fried okra being okay... And since when is gumbo and pickled okra a "northerner" thing??
My dad, being from Alabama, liked his okra fried with cornmeal breading. The only redeeming quality to it was it was fried in ......... BACON GREASE!
I still never came around to it.
