If I'm carrying... it is in a holster, no matter what gun it is. If I'm not carrying it is next to my bed with a flashlight close to it.
I do NOT fear the kids getting ahold of my firearms because first of all, If I am dressed it is on my side, If it is in the bedroom it is safe because my kids are NOT allowed to go in there. They will even stand at the door to ask us a question.

I carry in a holster 100% of the time. I'm tall and thin and have no problems concealing any of my handguns. I am picky about my holsters though, If I can't stand on my head without the gun coming loose, I won't carry with that holster. I have never had a problem.

I do know a guy who used to Mexican carry and had his gun fall out of his waistband in front of a cop. No arrest, but he was lectured about making sure if he was going to carry a gun that it better be secured.

holster 100% of the time unless it is in my hand to be used. I laugh if anyone says a holster isn't a "secured" place for it.....just IWB without a holster is unsecured

In holster 90% of the time. I don't want to even try MC in fear I'd scratch my Baby or I'd drop it through my pants. I do carry my P11 in my pocket if I have cargo jeans on or a big jacket. Otherwise it rides very low, almost below my belt, IWB in an oversized Uncle Mike's. It's all I got so I usually just pocket the thing as I'm running out the door. But as soon as I come home it's back to the more secure Baby Eagle since playing with kids on the floor wouldn't be smart with a loose DAO gun in my pocket.

I hate to think how much money I’ve spent (wasted) on holsters that I don’t use.

I used to do the Mexican carry thing some years ago with a 4” J frame. I had it slide down my pant leg once and another time I left it on top of the toilet tank in the Warsaw Long John Silvers.

Only lost a handgun one time. When I was deer hunting I had a Super Blackhawk come out of the holster while doing a belly-crawl through some tall grass trying to get to a good shooting position. I don’t remember why I had the retention strap unsnapped.

Now-a-days I use a holster except for when I run out to dispatch a groundhog or some critter messing with the animals but most of the time I use a long gun of some kind for that.
