Old guy cashier at Kroger this morning asked for my birthdate when he scanned my beer. I said “I don’t remember, gimme a minute to think about it”, and he says “you pass, you may purchase this beer “.

Cashier at Meijer today didnt even bother to ask. I guess my wife and I look old enough for her?

Kroger started that back during covid. I can't say that I blame them really. At the one I go to some of the resident feral humans would come in, buy a pack of gum or something equally small and try and take $100 in cash back. Compared to what bank ATMs charge it was much cheaper (still is even with their new 50 or 75 cent charge), but it was running Kroger out of change for their self-serve kiosks.

I've never used such a service, but if I did I wouldn't pay to receive my own money.

The GetGo station right by Kroger has a no-fee ATM, so if I need cash, that's usually where I go.

I don't like paying to get my money, but what they are doing is not out of line. Wouldn't be my first choice, but cheaper than many other choices.


I don't do this either, but as I understand, atms at places like convenience stores, casinos, etc charge really big fees.

The GetGo station right by Kroger has a no-fee ATM, so if I need cash, that's usually where I go.

Credit unions have a partnership and there are 5,000+ ATMs I can access with no fees across the country.

When ya need to go to the bathroom real bad, a pay toilet would look good. Most would not complain about paying until they are done using it.
