I have had holes drilled and nailed in my fingers and hands. It very hard to keep them clean to fight off infection. I have never had a cut that bad though. Hopefully u keep it. It will be tender for years, If the tip falls off. Best of luck keeping it.

Wow, at least you didn't react violently, or freak out, would have scarred the girl for life. Hope it heals ok, and you don't lose it!

When I was 14, I was sharpening a knife with one of those hand held sharpening tools. I got distracted by a friend and sliced my thumb all the way to the bone on the back side, went to friends house and put some emergency blood stopper on it, then wrapped it up and put rubber finger *similar to a thimble* cover over it. Should have probably gone to the hospital, but didn't want to tell parents about it. Blood stopped after awhile, so it turned out fine. I can still feel it though, when I push on the scar, it hurts a little.

    OUCH!!!! :runaway:

I did that carving a pumpkin in my youth.
About 1/4" further up my finger, my nail still grows a little weird there to this day.

Hopefully the healing is coming along good on you finger. I hope you don't end up losing it.

Up until this thread I had no Idea just how DULL my knives are. You could do that with my sharpest knife and not have much damage at all. :(

I was using my very cheap knife to bore a small hole in something. I was holding it incorrectly and the blade lock disengaged and it folded shut on my finger. Not as bad as yours but pretty long and deep around the first knuckle. I hope you can get that back to 100%.

Thanks guys. It seems to be doing somewhat ok. I am headed back to the doc tomorrow for a follow up. Might get the stitches out but I'm really feeling like it is probably going to fall off. It is still stupid sensitive and sore. Plus its a bit discolored and still bleeds a little every day. I hope he doesn't say I need to see a specialist.
