Platoon Sgt (2nd Platoon) Ssgt John Murphy (looked like a miniature version of Dudely Dooright). I'll never forget the day he led the whole company in PT. He said, "You *****s will never forget this day." He was right. The company limped for days. Top was SFC Simms (can't remember first name), CO was Capt Fisher.

I'm still trying to figure out how Alabama manged to be all uphill. We were one of the first groups of women (not WACs) that trained with the men. Took a lot of flack from the men, but learned much.

As a former drill sergeant myself I still have some of my old privates contact me from time to time via military.com ect. A fair number of them ended up being lifers with some still active duty. Now my oldest son is following in my footsteps and is on his 8th year active duty. I guess it is a family thing.
