    Thanks for all the replies, so far I think 1966 was as far back as solid memories go, many of stories abound from our military experiences, I am sure, but I believe the original theory has been proven, we remember out DI/DS/TS/PO, who were with us briefly of 6 to 11 weeks, but the man/woman who had us daily for 3-4 years we forget.

    Well, my HS Principle didn't have me out in the rain, rucked up in the front lean and rest position because he couldnt see the reflection of his Marlboro pack in the toes of my boots. :):

    Absolutely!
    I still have Govt. Issued dog tags that have been on my key ring since the late 60's. Those things are indestructable under normal wear.:patriot:
