I thought they moved 3rd INF DIV to FT Stewart after the draw down in Germany. Am I incorrect?

Can't say I cared much for it. Problem was everyone had gigs if they wanted them to, and with us it was quite often. Something else I learned, don't eat a big breakfast in jump school. My first week I did just that right before a major killer run. For those that don't know you eat chow first thing in the AM and then do PT.

Hard to forget experience like that, and always proud to be Marine trained Navy Air. Sad day when they combined AOCS with Regular OCS and no longer had Marines running it. Big Navy decided that it was "too hard core" and that they were losing candidates! Thought that was the idea....figure out who really wanted to earn it!

No, 1-38 just kept the motto from it's time with 3rd ID in WWI. I wasn't in 3rd ID 'cause I was an 11B not 11M.

I thought they moved 3rd INF DIV to FT Stewart after the draw down in Germany. Am I incorrect?

Yeah, when I was in 3rd ID was at Stewart and their 3rd brigade was on Kelly Hill at Benning.

My cycle was the first to have the HMMWV training. I only remember SSG Lessard because for some reason we had rotating ones all the time. Would have a female one week, a guy right out of Drill school....was crazy Sad thing is I can remember all of the faces.

Thanks for all the replies, so far I think 1966 was as far back as solid memories go, many of stories abound from our military experiences, I am sure, but I believe the original theory has been proven, we remember out DI/DS/TS/PO, who were with us briefly of 6 to 11 weeks, but the man/woman who had us daily for 3-4 years we forget.
