I'll show my support in February at the pro gun rally at the capitol.
No way I'm going down there during their march.
I've experienced 1st hand what a pissed off mother will do to you to get her point across and that was over being 2 minutes late. I can't image what kind of beat down would be like from 1 MILLION moms who don't even like me let alone love me.

Wait... I thought they were ANTI-gun? Isn't that NYPD leading the way? What, pray tell, on on her right hip?

They're not 100% anti-gun. They're just anti-scary-black-gun for civilians. It's okay if civilians hunt and target shoot with non-scary guns, but the scary guns are reserved for the police and military. They informed me of that when they deleted my posts on their facebook page after I posted facts that did not fit their agenda.

Less than that will show up for the Indy event.. but, I bet the Media covers it more than they did the HUNDREDS of people at the Pro Gun rally...

The Indiana chapter's FB for the event said that 7 have confirmed, 9 are "maybe" and and additional 334 have been invited.

I'm making signs with the kids tomorrow.

    A) I would't tempt a confrontation with this group. That is exactly what they are looking for. ANYTHING to get media exposure.

    B) If (and a big if) you want to tempt it, I'd beat them at their own game. Women and kids, armed for their own safety. Little signs that say "My mommy loves me enough to protect me". This is an emotional game, and our opponent is an EXPERT player.

I agree with option B. I think that the ladies that arepro-gun or have a license should show the government that not all “crazy gunowners” are men. :draw:

I do not think some of these women even know why they opose guns. :twocents:[/QUOTE]

I do, it gives them something to do in their otherwise dull, boring lives. Gives them a false sense of self worth. :twocents:

Could it be possible to organize a counter rally of pro-gun moms WITHOUT sparking hostilities?????
Unlikely. Any counter-rally is just going to bolster media wanting to broadcast the rally.

It would go from "X,XXX mothers walk down town in support of gun control" to "Crazy gun people fight with mothers over gun control down town."

I'd like to see it. If handled properly it could lead to some civil lady to lady discussion rather than 2 deeply divided sides.
If you think they're open to discussion or that you could even convince them, as a group, to change their minds you're way off in left field.

There is no reasoning with a mob, even a peaceful mob. You aren't going to win.

I think it needs to be done, but by other women.
While humorous in theory, could be potentially even more disastrous. Again, would add more fuel to the media fire.

    Exactly.

    B) If (and a big if) you want to tempt it, I'd beat them at their own game. Women and kids, armed for their own safety. Little signs that say "My mommy loves me enough to protect me". This is an emotional game, and our opponent is an EXPERT player.
That's the game they're playing - emotional and not logical. If you look at any gun control discussion with opposing sides you will find that one side is using logic and the other side is sticking to emotion - I won't say which is which but I'm sure you can figure it out.

Yea, or go without your guns just to protest them from the sideline with signs and banners saying stuff like "Gun free zones are killing our children".
This is a better idea, but could still attract more attention to their event.

I just love the irony. They'd stand there on the basis of their first amendment and tell me how wrong my second amendment is.
If the second amendment gets destroyed/disabled/undermined more than it is now - they very may live to see the day that they no longer have the first amendment.

How funny would it be for a thousand unarmed moms, chanting and feeling all empowered to round the corner and be face to face with a thousand armed people protesting the opposite side.
I can see the media portraying it as an armed mob causing trouble/issues/problems for a peaceful unarmed group of mothers just walking 'for their cause.'

We would certainly be betrayed as the bad guys - this isn't about logic, it's about emotion and appearances.

I don't want to convey that I want violence, but the point is very clear.
Unfortunately that's exactly how our opposition is going to portray us regardless of the truth.

If one side has lethal power and another does not, there is no chance of success for the disarmed. We, as armed citizens, have the power to say no. Without arms, we can march, chant, and complain all we want, but we are really powerless.
If an unarmed group marching, chanting, and complaining is powereless as you say we are - why do you feel that them doing exactly that is so very dangerous and needs to be stopped, said "no" to, or otherwise interfered with?

    Where's the bacon?
I think the idea of it being women is the idea of the year.

I just love the irony. They'd stand there on the basis of their first amendment and tell me how wrong my second amendment is.

How funny would it be for a thousand unarmed moms, chanting and feeling all empowered to round the corner and be face to face with a thousand armed people protesting the opposite side.

We, as armed citizens, have the power to say no. Without arms, we can march, chant, and complain all we want, but we are really powerless.

Our guns don't much help against a group like this, either. Play this out with me: The thousand unarmed moms vs. the thousand armed moms. One side starts trying to out-scream the other and working to provoke them to a counterresponse. What are the armed going to do, shoot them? It's a throwback to what the antis have done for years: call out gun owners as violent , argumentative, boorish buffoons lacking more than a single-digit IQ, then claim how worried they are about the fact that we have the means of dealing death, should we so choose. The simple fact is that if they were truly frightened of us, they would never EVER let those words pass their lips, but instead, they say such directly to us, knowing that the truth is that we'll usually allow them their wrong opinions.

I recall that there was a case a few years ago at some political rally, IIRC, wherein a man who was lawfully armed was physically assaulted by an anti. Bloodied his nose, I think. He determined that the threat was minimal and left his pistol in its holster, as he should have. My apologies for a lack of specifics, it's been too long and I don't even remember a name by which to google it.

The best method, IMHO, would be to film them. Watch them get more and more shrill and vehement and outraged that you would dare to show your face at THEIR rally with a GUN on your side... While you stay perfectly, rationally calm. Then, when the media challenges your side, pull out the video showing both sides simultaneously... showing who looks like they're about to pick a fight and who is upset, vs. who seems more trustworthy with grown-up tools.

    Blessings,
    Bill

There is a group on Facebook trying to get a seperate rally going starting before the anti's one does.

Women's Rally at the Statehouse - Saturday Jan 26th 9am

    https://www.facebook.com/events/577337145628986/

For those of you that don't do Facebook -

It has been brought to our attention that the local Indiana chapter of "One Million Moms for Gun Control" plans to conduct a march from the Soldier and Sailors monument to the south side steps of the statehouse in downtown Indianapolis THIS SATURDAY. We feel that there are FAR more women who wish to protect their rights and their families. If you are one of these women, then feel free to attend and show them that women want their rights too. Their event will begin at 10am, so ours will begin at 9am. Meet on the sidewalk surrounding the statehouse just like the Jan 19th and Feb 8th events. Dress nicely, conduct yourselves professionally, carry your firearms legally and carry meaningful signs that send a clear and appropriate message. Please refrain from inciting confrontation, because this will surely ruffle their feathers but perhaps it could open their eyes or better yet, their ears.

It would speak VOLUMES more to have a large group/majority of women attend this to show that they are the majority. However, men who do attend are encouraged to carry appropriate and meaningful signs such as "My wife carries a gun because I can't be with at all times."

This is SHORT notice, but can send a CLEAR message. There are a LOT of women supporting the event on the 8th and the "moms" march is only showing a handful as coming. Lets share this around, invite every gun toting lady you know and make a statement that YOU and your family are not too good to be protected by our 2nd amendment, and that do not want further erosion of our rights.

Lets hit this hard folks! Since the original event (by the 1M Moms for Gun Control) was intended to be anti-gun, maybe there will be more media there this time.

A few of us are already going. But not before. What's the point of that?

The point is to be there, ready, and organized before they are...

When they start showing up and going "Is this the One Million Moms..." and then they see the firearms - they may not actually assemble unless they literally show up en-masse.

Just so you know what your up against:

Shannon Watts, the founder, is a lying hag. She is NOT as 'stay at home mom who started a grass roots organization' as is reported in the media.

The stay-at-home mom has already launched one public rally. On Monday—Martin Luther King's Birthday—she, along with more than 300 New Yorkers, marched from the Brooklyn Bridge to City Hall in Manhattan to call for tough new gun reform laws, USA Today said. New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly told The New York Times.com that Congress should pay attention.

I'm not saying its pointless to stand up to her and her group, what I AM saying is she is a pro, using her contacts to gain momentum, has the media on her side, and they will not report otherwise.

(They had only 300 in NY last week, but you'll not find that in the mainstream reports. )

It'd be a real shame if the addresses of the participants who will be busy at the march got into the hands of some people who prefer to pick up their home electronics and jewelry through self-service methods.

[edit]- adding the purple so no one gets inspired.

It does make you wonder how many of these folks actually have hand- or long guns at home, though. :dunno:
