    Illinois House passes a bill

    -Gov does not like it
    -Rham does not like it
    -Jesse ""
    -Flager ""

Senate has NOT passed it yet

Plus there are a lot of other control freak politicians and other influential anti-American low life liberals in play. I expect the Chicago regime to do some crooked maneuvering. I can only wish the best for the good folks from Illinois but this is too much like "RIGHT" and I have to see to believe when it comes to this one. I expect some sneaky trick to emerge soon. Just an opinion, hope I'm wrong.

but do understand that madigan has a llloootttt of power, more so then the governor. rham is probably on par in terms of power but rham has friends out of state (feds) that even madigan cannot touch.

i actually dont hope u r wrong cause if you are then indeed this would be the first signs of weakness from the chicago machine. i may hate the machine but i do admire there ability to control everything.

I have to go to Chicago every day for work in a company truck so carry is out that way, and I'm damn sure not going there on my dime so they can keep their non- carry carry permit

I am shocked folks are surprised that they are finding ways to create a law that passes Concealed Carry while making it almost impossible to carry legally. This is what I expected. Of course, if you think outside the world of the big cities maybe it becomes easier.

We'll see where it ends up...but I suspect that it will get worse rather than better.

if all this fails by the deadline date, don't they become a constitutional carry state? Or is that some rumor I heard?

if that's the case, I hope they don't get anything passed or signed by the deadline

This is true, though I don't think there's any legislators in IL with the stones to hold out for that. They'll all sign on to anything to avoid the "Wild West."

I know Madigan is said to be supporting this bill for the record, but I am skeptical that he really wants it passed. His daughter is getting ready to run for gov and who knows how many secret political subplots may be going on under the surface.

Madigan and Raham it would seem need to be backroom partners to help further their individual agendas. Taking local gun laws away from Raham makes him look weak and goes against everything gun related away from him that he wants to accomplish

@melensdas the south shore train from indiana does not fall under the mass transit of this bill since the south shore does not get funds from IL that i know of. south shore does pay IL for use of the IL rail lines.

@rhino almost correct except u forgot driving to say walgreens to buy something. but i'm sure the bill will add that a no guns sign carries the weight of all so that biz can add those sign and become gfz as well.
if that is not in the bill let me make a quick phone call to ensure it gets into the bill. :faint:

I read the bill and, yes, businesses are permitted to place signs making themselves gun free zones. I didn't see what the penalties are for violating said zones, though. Basically, they're doing everything they can to make it as difficult to carry as possible. I'm not the least bit surprised. I said that in one of the very early threads on this topic.

the good thing about it being though, is that it is concealed carry...if you are concealing, might as well go deep. then you shouldn't have to worry about all the bull**** stipulations that they are trying to enforce. just make sure you have a good holster.

It's really no surprise that the legislature in Ill. would come up with the most restrictive and cost prohibitive bill that their warped minds could muster.

    Business as usual. :noway:

    You are correct.

I think that the existing FOID would become the defacto license at that point. You have to have one to own a gun, so without it you would still be breaking the law carrying(having) a gun without one. That is far short of constitutional carry.

Another thing to consider, if the state doesn't pass a law like the proposed one each local government will be free to pass whatever laws they wish to control guns in their area. Seems to me, that Chicago may want this to happen if they cannot force their will on the whole state.

As much of a crap sandwich as this bill is, it does have a couple of good things that I did not think would get passed. Namely state preemption and shall-issue. I know that it goes back to the Senate, but (correct me if I'm wrong) I believe it is a yay or ney vote and not one that would amend it.

I personally will pursue getting the non-resident license if for no other reason but to send a political message that people do want this. I hope that we see the same kind of response that Wisconsin did with the number of applications after their bill was passed.

Quick question: Can the state legislators in IL legally carry now? If so, do you know under which law?

I have heard that they can, but have not been able to verify this.

So basically - you can carry if you go out side, but if you are going to go TO ANYWHERE to do ANYTHING (fun, eat, etc) - you're still prohibited. You pay lots of money for a 'right' that you cannot effectively use after you pay extra for it.

Or - wouldn't it be a shorter list to say where you CAN carry legally?

LOL (sorry it really isn't sarcasm)
