There was nothing stopping them from doing SHARE and reciprocity and every thing else. Congress is not single threaded. They can do a lot of different things at once...

Just throwing this out there but this is the second time that something has happened to derail/delay the HPA...

    This was the easy one.
We dicked around with the other stuff hoping for a home run instead of getting this alone done while we could.

The president of the American Suppressor Assn. said a while back that the HPA had very little chance of getting passed on its own. He has a stake in getting it passed and seems to have a good understanding of the workings in DC, so I have no reason to doubt him. I do think that there is little chance of it being passed this time, nor any other pro-gun legislation. Looks to me that if the automatic weapons used in this massacre were legal, fully auto guns might be on the chopping block.

If full autos go on the chopping block then I guess those that own them either turn them in and eat tens of thousands or become felons

It's sad, but a lot of legislation is passed somewhat quietly as part of a different legislation package. I contend that this could well have passed on the back of other legislation had we made it a priority. Rather than our bolder gun related wish list of items we assumed could get passed with the majorities we have in congress.

Ryan was looking for a reason to not pass suppressors from the start. He actively refused to move it to the floor as a standalone bill. They forced his hand by bundling it. So then he started dragging his feet. And now he has a reason so on the shelf it goes and he can blame events and deflect blame.

Thats good to know... I will contribute to anyone that primaries him or whoever is his challenger.

    Is anybody surprised by this?

Not really given the events of the past few days.

The current Congressional R's have clearly shown they are incapable of governing per the voters repeated mandates. If tax reform does not pass, I will say it now- I will not be voting for any current 'R's.

I agree with INGO Brother JeremiahJohnson, 'I'm a conservative but the current R's are CLEARLY not'. Having President Trump has forced the 'R's to show their true colors. RINO's.

It's unfortunate that so many people are convinced by whatever they see in the media. I have friends on social media that believe a suppressor turns a gunshot into a cat sneeze.

I feel that one of the biggest barriers that we as 2A adherents face is sheer ignorance/lack of education. So many are so complacent with what their understanding (no matter the deficit) is and what's more frightening is their marked unwillingness to seek further education on the subject.

    Could be anywhere
Just emailed my rep again to support this and to tell the speaker to give it a vote...but if Ryan doesn't bring it to the floor it's dead. :xmad:

As a supposed outdoorsman/hunter I don't know how he can't support this...but then again maybe Janesville is too close to IL and his blood/brain is tainted.

    So you'll vote for dem's?
    No.

I think he was talking primaries.
    Yes.

I originally thought just maybe there was a slim chance of the planets and stars aligning and the weak-kneed 'R's could find the courage to vote.

But not now. Now they have the easy way out to say 'not now'. But they still want your $$ contributions and votes. For sure.

I hope so. I'm all for primarieing the goons that don't follow their constituent's beliefs.

However, sometimes we get so wrapped around the axles with "can't stand for..." that we lose the battle.

Just imagine how history would have been changed in the past 5 years if we could have just found a way to get by ourselves to elect Mourdock instead of standing back to watch Donnelly effect so many votes? We might already have had the Hearing Protection Act along with the repeal of Obamacare, etc.

Gutless wonders. All of them. Sick of that whole mess. The only positive thing since last November is the balance of power with SCOTUS...can't think of another single thing. At least we're not diving headlong into the swamp of socialism, right? We'll just keep telling ourselves that....you know...to feel better.
