In the past I've used an Encore in .308 and a Savage Striker in .260 Rem. I gave it up the last couple years to use a pcr in in .500. I may go back to the .308 encore in the future.

I've hunted squirrel with a .22 SA Heritage Arms. Those are pretty accurate little guns, but I dont think thats what you're talking about. One of my next purchases will be a .357 or .44 mag hunting pistol. I'd love to take a deer with one.

    I have in the past...

used a Dan Wesson .357 magnum for deer twice. I carried my Dan Wesson .44 magnum this year either with or alternately with my Puma 92 lever rifle.

    For small game I used a T/C Contender .22mag.

9.5" SRH, .454 Casull (overkill, I know... working on a reduced load)

2009 results: youngh doe, opening day, entered behind the right shoulder, detroyed right lung and liver, exited 2" behind diaphragm. She jumped and ran 30 yards and lay down. At the bottom of the hill, of course.

    Load: 300gr XTP/Mag, 1600fps. Would be happy with a ~250gr bullet at ~1200-1400fps.

I thought muzzle loading handguns had to be .50cal or larger :dunno:

    For deer hunting, yes.

S&W 629 and MOA .260 Rem.(Haven't had time to shoot MOA yet).
Haven't kept track but probably 15+ deer with S&W longest shot 120 yards average shot around 50 yards.

Have taken three deer with a Smith and Wesson M 25 45 Colt topped with a red dot sight. Eyes too old to make good use of iron sights.
