Any that were found were either “crimped” with explosives or had gas or water poured into them. However, it was soon found that these methods didn’t work.

The tunnels had been specifically designed to prevent water or gas from flowing through them and reduce the effects of explosives detonating inside. It wasn’t until Australian troops explored the tunnels that their full complexity and scale were revealed.


After this, the US changed its tactics for dealing with the tunnels; now troops had to search them by hand.

Point taken but Hamas are not the VC and Israel isn’t the US. Because of the Hamas tunnels Israeli troops are trained to deal with tunnels. I wouldn’t personally want to do that. I am sure that explosives, gas and yes, even water are tools available to them depending on the design and situation. Going in after them is also on the table.

This is the essence of populism. Political leaders answering to the voters.

But we keep hearing the idea peddled that populism is a direct path to fascism. It's only a path to fascism if a fascist exploits the voters' desire to be heard. But claiming that voters' desire to be heard is somehow wrong, stands against the principles this nation was founded on.

Politicians and media are ******** on the idea of the people having a sizeable voice in how governance is conducted. This should be seen as a red flag warning, when they think they should not answer to voters, but to all the interests which enrich them.

This was Iran/Hama's goal and I believe it's the reason that their initial attacks against Israeli and foreign civilians were so barbaric this time. They knew it would create a massive response from Israel thus gaining sympathy for the Palestinians and worldwide condemnation for Israel and America. They (Hamas) forced this response, and it was intentional. How could it not be?

I can no longer watch the BBC. To me, it is obvious that they are no longer a serious news organization. It is probably an exaggeration, not much of one, but they seem to work “climate change” into almost every story. I have taken to sky news Australia as a foreign news source that I think is decent.
