I was wondering how a state senator from a conservative place like Iowa would be so open and crass about gun control. Then I looked on her website, and got the answer:

We had a 2A Day event earlier in this year and the Senate took up a bill to add RKBA language and she called security to watch the people in the gallery because she was scared they may be armed. This was the first session Iowa had Capitol Carry. She also had a not so private blog entry that majorly bashed cops surface in the 16’ election she lost. She’s a grade A bitc... she will literally run away from the NRA lobbyist in the Capital rotunda too.
