To the LEO's who have posted or read this thread. How would you have handled this situation had you been the LEO that was on scene?

Among the traffic violations I would hit him with
35-42-2-4 And bump it to a class A since it included the use of teh car.

As the rest of his story didn't include anything with the admitted to firearm in the vehicle I wont speculate. But had that been part of the mix, I could go on and on.

Quoted for posterity and just in case he tries to take it down.

I worked afternoon shift Friday and right back in on day shift at 0500 Sat. morning, I was home at 1330 and asleep by 1400.

About 1630 my family comes in the bedroom and says theres a car out at the road and either looking thru binos or a camera at our house. My wife went out the front door and the car went down a driveway or two and turned around. This gave me time to get dressed and grab my G19.

I went out the back door and by the time I got in the truck, the car had stopped in front of the house and was now driving away. I backed out the drive (200') backwards in record time, did a "J" turn squealing the 20" tires as I drove away in chase....

I passed the car and slammed on the brakes, angling my truck to block the road...... Of course we are all thinking its someone casing our house, nope a lady in her 60s taking pics of houses on a couple of rural roads for real estate comps.... WTF broad daylight on a Sat taking pics in front of houses !!!

Anyhow, she showed me the list, had different roads with names, addresses, mortgage co. names etc..... she had her real estate id/ card.I told her that they should call ahead first and at least give notice of what they will be doing. She was just about crying saying you didnt have to chase me down and stop me like that..... yeah well family first, MINE !!! I had my sidearm holstered, not sure if she saw it or not.

Ironic thing was the first car stopped on the other side of my truck was a deputys charger, I walked over recognized him as he did me, I knew his Dad real well when he worked for the town police. Told him what happened, he offered to talk to her but I said it was alright just drive by slow and wave your finger in a "NO" motion.... which he did.

I doubt they will send a woman back out in the redneck rural area to take pics......

My 20 y/o son is off on work due to a broken foot so he was backing me up from inside the house with his AR & ACOG, Mom asked him if he got away, he said no, Dad has him, and theres a sheriff that just rolled up too.

Very intersting, good to get the prepper exercise too. The whole family was on alert and involved, good to have backup.

Are you related to the guy who shot his finger off at the 1500?

To the LEO's who have posted or read this thread. How would you have handled this situation had you been the LEO that was on scene?

That depends. If I was aware that the person was armed (and whether anyone likes it or not), I would have considered that an aggravating factor, and outright them. Depending on the victim, and not being aware of a firearm, it could go either way, but at the very least, we would have a lengthy talk about acceptable behavior.

So what you're saying is... You don't think your house is nice enough to take pictures of and, as such, the only possibility was that they were casing your house mid-day?

Seems like bounds overstepped a bit;-- public road, individual not actually on your property, actions taken to detain another by blocking roadway.

Defense is one thing-- does a defensive move include a chase off your proeprty?

I'm not judging-- just asking the questions.

What do you do when the guy comes to read the electric meter?

Chasing a car and blocking it on a public street or highway is a good way to get shot. You are the lucky one, not her.

Anyone can take any picture they want from the public roadway, whether you like it or not. I do investigations for my job where I sometimes take pictures of various things in public. Seriously, if you had done this to me, I'd be finding out firsthand how good Federal HST ammo is.

You seriously, seriously screwed up. Not trying to be a douche, just telling to you check yourself before you wreck yourself.

It soulds like the OP is proud of his response. I'd have to agree with the above. I used to take pictures of houses in the neighborhood as part of a historic tour thing for the town. If someone did that to me then headed to my car you would have had my weapon drawn on you.
Then what, the only thing you could do would be to draw and fire.
Then one or both of us hit
One of both of us dead
Because you acted like a fool.

WOW - The OP will be lucky if the woman he intimidated with his vehicle (which can be considered a deadly weapon) does not file charges of vehicular attempted battery and intimidation.

It was the middle of the day. Who would be casing your house in the middle of the day?

It is plain and simple this guy just looks for an excuse to shoot somebody. Probably one of those guys that puts his hand on his holster every time somebody gets close to him.

What does he expect us to say to him? "Congratulations! You and your son almost murdered an old woman!"

Is Lock N Load a LEO and what felony was committed that warranted the little old lady being road blocked and stopped? The OP is lucky she did not shoot him thinking the worse was about to happen to her. I know female real estate agents are sometimes armed due to the nature of their business meetings while alone.
