Agreed: GET TRAINING. Do it frequently. Rust sets in more quickly than you think, and everything happens too quickly for you to have to think through those fancy moves you learned at the TKD school behind the mall.
Agree with this. Get the training and don't try to complicate things thinking that you have to learn a bunch of fancy moves.

That's why the most effective techniques for close combat revolve around the use of gross motor skills.

I view gun carrying people in two lights. One being those absolutely adamant about improving their chances of survival, and those are the ones who will take any training possible to improve their chances of not only surviving but winning. The others feel that punching holes in paper and carrying their pistol are adequate for when the time comes that they need to use it. The first carry the mind of the survivor and the second gamble with their lives and to be honest, I hope I never have to rely upon them.

Hey, you've only got around 10 years on me. I just haven't started getting the "aches and pains" yet. ;) I still train as actively as I did in boot camp. (when schedules permit)
You know what we learned in those extra 10 years...

How to fight mean, mainly cause it hurts if we try to fight. Got to end it fast and brutally enough that none of your friends will want to avenge you...

Mainly cause it hurts a LOT...

I know at least a half dozen of these guys has taken extra handgun training, so if thats representative of OCers in general, they DO in fact have a higher rate of training than CCers.

So if INGO is any indication, OCers as a group are higher trained than CCers.

Indeed and agreed. But it doesn't take age to learn that one, merely experience. ;) There are no rules in "combat" no matter where your "battlefield" is.

The ones I hate are when their friends are already there to begin with and your aren't :n00b:

I doubt it, are you a member of the OC group?

I just copied / pasted / did a autoclean of the data.
Indeed. I OC on occasion too, depending on situation. But more often then not I OC and it allows me opportunities to educate people and introduce them to our 2A world quite often.

Don't care about the actual numbers, and the conclusion may be correct, but logic flaw. First, those who are members of that group do not necessarily represent every OCer or the proportion of OCers as a whole who train. Second, to what are you comparing it?

Just taking a representative group of people, and saying to myself

"Which one of these people do I know have taken training?"

A large percentage of them have, a percentage I think is higher than a similar list of random CCers.

Just all based on my personal knowledge of the people involved.

FYI, dom is talking specifically about members of this forum group: INGunOwners - OC'ers

rather than everyone on INGO that happens to OC.

I haven't even looked at any of those groups in a long time, but they were a bit more popular years ago.
