I seem to recall a very similar thing occurring during the Trump administration with the when police cleared protesters when Trump was going to a church.

Other than public property versus private property, other than .GOV doing it versus private property telling disruptors they aren't welcome, other than tear gas.... yeah, well same-same.

ETA: Hecklers "escorted" out of rallies... which is likely a VERY close analogue. I'm sure there's others if I search, but why? Want to protest DeSantis on the steps of the statehouse in Tallahassee... I support your rights 100%. Think you have the same rights to disrupt a PRIVATE business with the same grievances and protests, go **** yourself.
Looked like they were out in a parking lot, not inside a private business. :dunno:

The parking lot is private property... read a few local reports, they we informed that the mall did not allow protests or demonstrations on their property... including the parking lot and to leave or take it to the public sidewalk.

They refused... until mall security called police.

POTUS, especially that one, have different security requirements then governors - nor can the president overrule SS security arrangements

Can't hold a public rally without the public feeling like they can show up. What was their crime again? Wearing clothing supportive of Trump? Sounds more like they didn't want the optics of visible Trump supporters on camera.
Perhaps they should have advertised a 'DeSantis supporters only' rally. Not aware that Trump supporters were ever disruptive at anyone else's rally. I thought you wanted Trump supporters to hear what he has to say?

At least Trump waited until the attendees actually did something disruptive instead of preemptively convicting them for thought crimes

Either way, it won't be a good look. He comes off as afraid to face anything but a hand-picked audience and hiding behind the promoter with the 'It's a public rally, but not on public property' schtick

His feet are apparently made of clay. Torn between sad and ridiculous. The way you rep DeSantis I would expect him to be fronting adoring crowds not fearing heterodox boomers. One more thing Trump can do that apparently he can't. He should stick to the small stage, legacy media will eat him alive once they succeed in job one, which is stopping Trump

My understanding was that persons were excluded not just for heckling but also simply because they were wearing Trump paraphernalia. I can understand why D'tis would not want those heckling and making a scene to enter. But to exclude those who simply were a t-shirt or hat with Trump or MAGA has a bad look to it.
    D'accord!

"Just" for wearing a Trump shirt or hat...

For what it's worth, the protesters who were for the "woke" AA AP studies course were more numerous... and in the correct place, even per Looney:

trumpettes were exposed for only being in favor of property rights when it suits them. Not a good look for them.

Meanwhile, polls of the 2024 GOP contest show a fairly stable Trump lead over the field. If DeSantis looked initially like an irresistible force, Trump is now looking more like an immovable object. The RealClearPolitics average of polls on various GOP candidates currently place Trump at 45 percent, with DeSantis at 29 percent, Pence at 7 percent, Haley at 5 percent, and assorted other politicians in the low single digits. Because 2024 polling is a bit scattered at this early stage of the cycle, it’s most instructive to compare apples-to-apples findings from the same pollsters over time. Economist/YouGov had Trump leading DeSantis (in a multi-candidate poll) 44-32 in January and 42-32 in February. Similarly, Harvard-Harris showed Trump leading DeSantis 48-25 in December, 48-28 in January, and 46-23 in February. Emerson showed Trump up 55-25 in November, 55-29 in January and 55-25 in February. There’s just not a lot of recent movement.
Not real happy about the source, but the original article is already being scrubbed and it is only a day old. I wanted to use this because it links to the polling agencies it mentions
though you have to hunt for all but the most recent results

If you're interested, read it fast. I have a feeling it won't be available long. It does make me wonder why the censors are apparently carrying DeSantis' water, though

DeSantis is an NCINO (pronounced like Encino), a 'Non Candidate In Name Only'

He obviously intends to drag his feet on revealing how he would govern or his positions on national issues as long as possible, under the guise of he's to busy being governor (and shilling his memoir, of course)

Sounds like a page from the 'basement strategy' playbook

I haven't found any news of Florida changing their rules/laws about being gov and running for pres. simultaneously. D'tis is going to have a hard decision to make. One in the hand vs. two in the bush, so to speak. If FL changes their law, it will be a much easier decision for him. If they don't change the law, well...

Okay. so the question is, did DeSantis or his people tell the Trumpers to leave? Or was it that the mall's management told them to leave because it violates their policy?

I don't know and I'm having trouble finding enough care to fuel my interest to find an answer.

First, the Trump protest organizer put out the times and requested Trump supporters be there an hour and half before DeSantis was scheduled to arrive. Was he even there when the Trumpsters were trespassed?

Second, DeSantis poobahs telling them to leave would have resulted in raspberries and derisive laughter… DeSantis don’t own the mall or it’s parking lot.

Third, do you think the wokester protesters would “choose” to be protesting for the CRT AP course out on the public road instead of disrupting the book signing… are we saying they were just being respectful or something? I think not…

More like pearl clutching by the Trumpsters and and faux Karen-style pearl clutching at that!
