you can go into a firefight w/ a quartermaster company if you want. someone w/ an infantry background will come secure your corpse, or snatch you back after youre a pow.
See there lies the problem, turtle. You believe the only people who are capable of doing bad things are 11B's. Yes they can do that, but so can the rest of the US Army. Some of the best I have been to Indian Country with have been the POG's I have been around. Less BS attitude. But, hey what do I know. I am not a turtle or a cherry...
i could have done almost any job in the army(Marines), but i picked the Infantry.
i hate when people talk about the Infantry like all its good for is "catching bullets". haha. everyone in the Infantry is stupid. haha. .
Calm down hero !. I was a medic , don't get all butt hurt cause I was bustin your balls .

Ok, my 18 year old daughter just graduated high school. A friend of hers signed up for an 8 year stint in the Navy and was supposed to begin next January. He screwed up royally 2 nights ago and got in trouble with the law. He has now been kicked out of the Navy before he even got started... they told him they don't want him any more.
While Jakal and I were discussing with my daughter what a dumba$$ this kid was for screwing up like he did, she started realizing the benefits, education, pride, etc. that he has now forfeited. Low and behold, my daughter actually started considering joining a branch of the military herself. Yes, she's actually giving it serious thought!
What do you guys & gals think? I can't talk to my family about this because they would automatically go into panic mode thinking she'd be shipped immediately off to Iraq, raped and murdered.
I guess what I want, is to get a feel for what you all think about the idea of an 18 year old girl signing up for the military? What branch would you recommend and why? What are some things to consider/talk to a recruiter about?

Ah, the panic. I served in the AF and my daughter, one day out of the blue, joined the Marines. I offered to go to training with her was my protection instinct was so strong.
This is what I told her before she joined.
The AF sleeps in beds.
The Navy sleeps in bunks.
The Army sleeps on cots.
And the Marines sleep on the ground.
Didn't dissuade her one bit.
That's what I thought, I knew the EIB was something you guys could earn prior to combat.
Thought EIB stood for excellence in broadcasting?
AA&E, what possessed you to resurrect this one?
