I'm digging the finish on that. It is hand crafted and a time consuming process but well worth it in the end. The results are a thing of beauty.I bought my 1911 pre-idiot scratched, that way I wouldn't have to fret too much over it.
Oh if the previous owner could only see the marks I have on it now... The scratches and wear on a gun only add to the character and individualism of it.
-edit-
Not mine, but a damn fine looking gun!
I will buff out if it's not too deep.
It is near impossible to find a used 1911 without the scratch.
I think people decide to sell them out of disappointment after they scratch the frame.
Don't be that guy.

It's called an "IDIOT mark" for a reason.
Sorry I am a noob, but is the "idiot mark" just a scratch that is made from not doing it right?

The "Idiot Mark" hapens when you slip and it scratches the frame just under the slide stop in a semi-circle fashion.
Like so:
Can you see it?
Threadjack!
