Surely you know the difference between measles and chickenpox.
Also, there's a difference between exposing/infecting and vaccinating. One is controlled, the other is not.
Both are childhood illnesses with a very low chance of complications. Both are more dangerous as an adult than as a child.
You're right about control, though. Natural immunity is lifelong, vaccines are not. The illness has known, quantifiable risks, vaccines risks are not. The illness complications are public knowledge and can be monitored and treated, the vaccine complications are denied and covered up, so they can not be monitored or treated.
So you're right, props to these parents for taking control.
