Were any of you aware of this case even being in court? It was very hush hush. This is a BFD! And while the NFL enjoys an antitrust exemption to negotiate broadcast deals as a league they cannot collude to raise consumer prices of the Sunday ticket because CBS and FOX don’t want their viewers to watch it there.

It was reported that ESPN wanted to buy it and offer it for $77 a season but were turned down. They wanted it to bolster sales of their apps and programming. That, in a nutshell is what it is all about.

No. I had no idea this was even a thing, other than, dayam those Sunday Tickets are hella expensive. I can't say I hate the verdict.

They're still expensive. And I don't see how it is functionally different under YouTubeTV. I still must have an active YTTV subscription ($70/month), along with the $350/year Sunday Ticket - though I guess I could cancel the YTTV subscription outside of the football season, which you couldn't do with a satellite contract.

That is the crux of the lawsuit, ESPN wanted to pay the NFL more for the rights and offer it for $77 a season. IDK if that required the $36 ESPN plus or not but still way cheaper than ever before.

I dunno. Even at $77/season, that's a nope. I think my son would pay for it though. I'd just mooch his subscription.

it's just not that important for that kind of money.
It depends on how much you like football and whether your favorite team is in your home market or not. For a Colts fan in Indianapolis who only really cares to watch Colts games, I agree: it's not worth the money.

It’s kind of like the concession stand at the Speedway. I think if they lower their prices by half a lot of people wouldn’t bother to bring their own food and drinks in. I’d pay $77 a season, you bet. But not over $300. Same with the concession stand. I’ll carry my food in. I guess some marketing geniuses somewhere have this stuff figured out, but it doesn’t make any sense to me.

Off topic a bit but anyone else see where a former Colts player arrested in Logansport for beating his son. He’s a cult leader and at least once a month we drive right past his $2 million property/compound that they raided earlier this week.

I've been seeing that. Sounds like a real piece of work. Daniel Muir.
