    Wow.

    That's really horrible.

Except, the headline is kinda clickbait. The actual comments from the 2 are more along the lines of "why does God allow terrible things."

    Is this up for discussion?

Who get's to define terrible? Jews circa 1940's might have a different view.

    ...or...

If no one ever died in any way we currently define terrible, then the whole scale would shift down to the point where we would consider getting splinter to be terrible. In other words, there's always a set of events that will be defined as terrible, and there will always be a subset of people that think they know better than God and can define the rules for these terrible events. (i.e. Cancer is not suppose to happen to children! God should have created a mechanism whereby cancer cells only grow when the host body gets a driver's license!)

We've gotten to a point where death is much more controlled and predictable than any other time, yet paradoxically, we're more frightened of it than ever before.

Maybe that paradox is also the reason.

Death is still so rare in people's lives that they don't really have to confront it until they are into adulthood (mostly).

For prior generations, even my grandparents', death was something people saw in childhood.

And, of course, this is also specific to "first world" countries (mostly). In other parts of the world, death is more common so the older views still hold sway.

    ...fine, I'll read it...

These men have made an attempt to show how enlightened they are, yet in reality, they've only shown their own ignorance and foolishness.

    Stephen Pinker said:
If you’re counting on God to make the world a better place you are probably going to make the world a worse place because he is not listening and we saw that yesterday.

My first thought, is that's going to upset the mainstreamers much more than the Gospel Christians. Why? Modern mainstream denominations (e.g. PCUSA, ECLA, United Congregation, UMC), have the now underlying belief that God wants them to make life better here. It's almost like post-millennial eschatology, but without any eschatology.

Whereas Gospel centered Christians (i.e. Evangelicals) tend to promote faith in Christ and living with eyes toward Heaven and accepting that the world is a ****hole.

Of course, these are simplifications, and I'm not going to delve into the consequences of each view.

Male Escort Exposes 36 Gay Priests in File Sent to Vatican Containing Explicit WhatsApp Chats and Erotic Photos

The allegations were compiled by Francesco Mangiacapra, a gay male escort who told local media he couldn’t put up with the priests’ "hypocrisy" any longer.

"The aim is not to hurt the people mentioned, but to help them understand that their double life, however seemingly convenient, is not useful to them or to all the people for whom they should be a guide and an example to follow,” Mangiacapra said, as reported by the Corriere della Sera.

I think Craig does a good job here on the "where does our morality come from?" question......I see God everywhere sometimes....Even in the queries and barbs from Atheists and Agnostics...They force me to better articulate my position, which in turn helps me when witnessing to others....Then I drop an F bomb and lose a little ground...But I keep plugging away.....I think I am still just amazed the Creator of the Universe knows me and loves me...There is a line in an Emmylou Harris song that comes to mind....

    Well someday..Up in Glory
Well I'll weep and tell the story
To someone, who'll smile and say
    "You're a mess but you're My child..."

    Goodness...Can it really be????
It would take a baby child to know the
    way I feel...

When I first saw the Pope's "comment", it crossed my mind that it would be viewed favorably by many agnostics and atheists. It certainly reduces the debate toward the more positive aspects of human behavior.

Context: Article going around that Pope denied existence of Hell.

    Vatican is denying this rumor.

Frank Turek has a regular one where he generally concentrates on apologetics. I take it he's pretty good on gun stuff but some of his guests are sometimes....cringe-worthy.

Dr Micheal Brown is a charismatic, Jewish Christian that does a daily show. He often has interesting shows on theology and the culture and how to respond to it. Hes from NYC and it shows on his stance on guns. He's not terrible but then again, he doesn't make them a regular part of his show.

The guys at Apologia church, in Arizona has somewhat regular podcasts (Apologia Studios, I think) and they have quite a bit on YouTube too. They are the best that I listen too when it comes to the 2A. Very libertarian on most things.
