Tink, I know I've seen signs on shop doors saying "No Loaded Guns".

    :dunno:

I understand a sign that says "no guns", but "no loaded guns" doesn't make any sense at all to me.
    All guns are ALWAYS loaded.
I dont know how to unload a gun so all my guns are always loaded, even the unloaded ones are loaded.

Accidents happen when people act like idiots with their guns and think it's safe because they are unloaded.
Too many people got shot by unloaded guns.
There is no such thing as an unloaded gun.Period.

If you want to bring a loaded gun to a gunshow just keep it in its holster.
Dont take it out to unload and make it "safe", it's unsafe.
Dont take it out to try a new holster or show the gun to people, it's unsafe.

I CC at every gun show I attend. It's no different from any other place to me. My CC piece is never touched, I don't try holsters for it. It's just always there, there is no reason to remove it for a gun show, just like there is no reason to remove it for any other establishment.

Interesting subject. I'd like to be able to try out holsters for the gun I happen to be carrying. Let's say you were allowed to carry it loaded at a gun show. What's the appropriate way to try out holsters there or in a gun shop for that matter? Do you unholster, unload, and then do what your gonna do or should you ask the person behind the counter what's allowed?
Guess I don't know the correct etiquette for such things but everytime I've been in a gun shop and wanted to try out a holster I ask what is appropriate.

I realize its a moot point if your already required to be unloaded but I'd still like to know the correct etiquette at gun shows or anywhere else for trying out carrying systems for the weapon your carrying at the time.

If I went with the intention of trying out holsters for a gun, I'd take it unloaded.

Sylvain, I went to Bradis on Saturday. Big letters on the front door: "NO LOADED GUNS". Go figure.

Did you see the discharge chamber below the sign. They have to post that up for insurance reasons I am sure.

The last 1500 I attended Was a while back and LEO was at a table checking guns and tie wrapping them. I allowed them to wrap my P-12 but they never saw the Browning in my lower back.
I am not walking into that arena un-armed.

So now we have those that are above the rules. Class act!

Or is it we just decide for ourselves which rules we decide to abide by.

This is how laws none of like end up getting passed.

I am LTCH. I know many others that do the very same thing. Every vendor in the building is armed. Half the patrons as well. Wake up. It has nothing to do with class.
This is one of many reasons I do not attend that function any more.

Reminds me of the poker scene in the movie "Maverick". Everybody has to check their guns at the door, but when trouble starts everybody pulls a gun.

Yes, that would be the case at the 1500 as well. I know some vendors and they all pack. It is a gun show.
I did not mean to stir up anybody's tender sensibility's.

I have no problem unloading to enter a gun show. I usually take my carry guns with me to try out holsters when I go to gun shows. I am cautious removing my loaded gun from the holster at home, there is no way I would want to casually handle it if it were loaded.

Besides I am often asked what I am carrying. Sometimes I even hand my gun to other people who are curious about it.

I will play show and tell with strangers with an unloaded gun. I like playing I'll show you mine if you show me yours but I would never do it with a loaded gun . :)

Nor do I, been there, done that. But it still remains some are choosing which laws they wish to obey and those which they do not. I guess its no worse than the guy in the bar who decides he really can drive home even tho he can barely find his car in the lot.

But we all make our decisions, then wonder why the consequences come back to bite us.

No knock on you sir...that is not a Law as far as I know. It is a stated rule yes and would fall under what you are stating. A law, no. I do understand what you are saying but it was not a lack of class which steered me to do or post that ( I am a bit lacking in that arena but not here) it was the suggestion of a few friends with booths in the show. They all carry and I felt I should as well. We all make some choices along those lines everyday.
Your point is taken. I fully understand Karma.

    Be well.

Never said it was a law, I stated it was a rule. Problem rules many times get changed into laws, therein lies the problem which affects us all.

Frankly I do not know how the rule applies to dealers, however I believe the incident in Fort Wayne was caused by a dealer.

We as gun owners are already under attack, lets not make it worse.

I've always CC'd at these events and never had any problem. While I certainly understand that stupid is always with us wherever we go, I prefer to have my gun on me. It worries me a lot more that a thief might figure out that many people leave their guns in their cars at these shows and could get away with a good haul just from the parking lot!

Again, I agree with the point that we are under attack as gun owners. I have worked for several HVAC contractors in my time in the field. Most all of them have a no gun in the truck policy to cover their A$$ should issues arise. One of them actually names the rule after me when a situation arose on a late night call and a drug deal was interrupted by me pulling into the dock of a building downtown and guns were pointed at me. I responded with a truck and a gun. Use your imagination. Truck can be very deadly if properly used. That said they have no problem sending us into the deep dark center of the worst areas in the city day or night to advance their fortunes but leave us un-protected. I always carry regardless. I have had more occasion to have the gun with me (all I will say, no freaking out) than I care to mention as there are creatures of the night in these areas. These creatures have started moving around in the day time as well. To act stupid with a gun and draw attention needlessly will always be with us no matter how you or I and others who have some sense act in public. You can not fix stupid and stupid carry's.
I do not brandish openly without reason. I do not play show and tell with strangers. I will let someone shoot my guns at the range if I observe them using some sense and appear to be safe. I observe rules for the most part but will carry when I see fit. JMHO

And while we're on the subject of a gun show's mandatory rules, I'd like to nominate deodorant as a requirement.

    I 2nd the motion.

    Got mine!

Two different views as to the rules just as two different peoples views regarding whether to speed or not and to obey the rules of the road.

As for myself regarding carrying at a gun show I'll continue to obey the rules of either the promoter, facility, or insurance company, just makes sense to me. After all a gun show is a long stretch from going into the bad area of the city at 2 AM in the morning.

Plus it sure beats getting forcibly escorted from the grounds by the authorities.

For those who must make up their own rules I guess go ahead, I'm old and by the time laws change it will make me no never mind.

Good point. Yes, a big difference. I to am old (enough) at 62 so probably set in my ways. It would be uncomfortable to be forcibly escorted out of any event. As to that, I do not let it be known I am carrying.
Is that taking a chance, yes it is. Is it justifiable, depends on how you see the world. I have tought my kids to follow the rules so Maybe I should be grounded without TV and internet.......;)
